Research Veterinarian at Aalborg University, Denmark
Description
The successful candidate must:

Work as veterinarian in Aalborg Zoo and must conduct the daily observations and necessary treatment of all collection animals at Aalborg Zoo.
*
Work closely with public authorities and supervise all documents needed in connection with animal transport in and out of Aalborg Zoo.
*
Plan and maintain a preventive health programme that is up to international Zoo standards for all collection animals at Aalborg Zoo.
*
Be responsible for maintaining Aalborg Zoo registrations in the global Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS).
*
Participate in research-based teaching at Aalborg University’s B.Sc. and M.Sc. programmes in Biology, primarily within animal physiology and anatomy, including supervision of biology students.
*
Be prepared to participate actively in all aspects of the collaboration between the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Environmental Engineering and Aalborg Zoo.

Eligibility:
The successful candidate must hold a veterinarian degree and have authorization to work as a veterinarian in Denmark as well as be able to document scientific qualifications at the PhD-level or similar scientific qualifications. Applicants with experience in animal husbandry, tropical ecology, population ecology, experimental physiology, physiology or anatomy in wild animals, primarily tropical will be preferred.
The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications.
Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching qualifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
Appointment to Assistant Professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as an Assistant Professor cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University (appointment at Assistant Professor level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark, however max. six years at Assistant Professor level at the same institution).
