The W. Crane Guy Memorial Vocal Scholarship was created to honor the memory, multiple talents and artistic career of MI alumnus W. Crane Guy (class of 2010); and is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of a newly enrolling Vocal Program student.
The scholarship will be awarded in fall 2012 to a new student (US or non-US citizens) enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Vocal) program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, and the potential for developing their own unique voice in any style. Preference will be given to veterans, but this is not required for eligibility.
The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the AA Vocal performance program only, and may not be transferred to “non- performance program” emphases (Audio Engineering, Music Business, Independent Artist, Guitar Craft, or Film) within an AA degree.
Award
$2,000.00 tuition credit ($1,000.00 per quarter for the first two consecutive quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress).
Eligibility and Conditions
Newly-enrolled AA (Vocal) students only. US citizen and non-US citizen. Awardee must maintain enrollment at 12 units (fulltime status) during the full length of award period. Failure to maintain enrollment and satisfactory academic progress in AA (Vocal) program for the full duration of the scholarship may result in withdrawal of the award.
How To Apply
Complete a W. Crane Guy Memorial Vocal Scholarship application (see application download instructions below). Provide proof of military service (if applicable) and the completed application form including:
VIDEO RECORDING:
Submit a video recording (DVD format only) of you performing three (3) songs in the any genre.
Applicants are required to include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) solo a capella performance.

For programs beginning: Spring 2013
Submit application by: March 1, 2013
