PhD Scholarship Search on diagnostic methods and devices Personalised cancer treatment.

Overview
3 year PhD scholarship is open within the European FP7 program "Biomedical engineering for cancer diagnosis and therapy of brain diseases and the development of EngCaBra». DTU Nanotech research in the fields of micro and nano - nanofabrication, including Biotechnology. The department offers outstanding career opportunities and strong links with the industry. The NaBiS group (www.nanotech.dtu.dk / nabis) - at DTU Nanotech focuses on developing state of the art biosensor systems for biochemical analysis of integrated systems.

The program is an interdisciplinary collaboration between universities and organizations EngCaBra different countries in Europe. EngCaBra `s goal is to implement novel methods and devices for the analysis of cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with cancer and brain diseases.


Successful candidates will work on testing, functionalisation and integration of sensor systems into a fully automated microfluidic system of care. Nanosensors based on the novel by Silicon nanowires. The challenges of integration and automation on the final point of care system must be overcome.

Qualifications
Candidates must have (or will soon acquire), a master `s degree in engineering, chemistry, physics or biology or related academic degree is equivalent to a master` s degree level. The suitable candidate must demonstrate an interest in biomedical applications of integrated systems and good teamwork skills. During the examination, microfluidics is needed, as well as one or more of the following areas that should be attractive.

1. Electrochemistry / Biochemistry
2. Surface change
3. Lab on chip integration, automation, optimization and testing.

In evaluating candidates for consideration will be given.

* Experience in the care and microfluidics devices
* Experience modeling and analysis of microfluidic systems
* Experience of project and team work in an environment of good communication skills and independent working style

Note:
According to the rules of the Marie Curie program, the applicant must be a national state other than the host organization. Started their grant / activity, researchers may not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in their host organization for more than 12 months, 3 years immediately preceding the date of the notice of eligibility. Confirmation of Enrolment

Salary and conditions of appoint ment
Appoint ment of wages and conditions are in accordance with the rules for graduate students in the DTU. Within 3 years of employment.
