As a prospective Graduate Program in Sustainability Science (GPSs), you can apply for the following scholarship programs (eg the Japanese Government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) or "Monbukagakusho") Scholarship and Asian Development Bank (ADB) - Japan Scholarship Program).
Requirements
All applicants for GPSs must meet the following requirements:
* Must hold a degree from an accredited institution comparable to a bachelor's degree offered at the University of Tokyo, or are expected to get the title on September 30, 2012,
* Must live outside Japan and non-Japanese hold nationalities,
* Must agree to enter the program by October 1, 2012 (in principle), when received and
* Must meet eligibility both the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship for 2011 or ADB-Japan Scholarship Program.
Because the application
A set of completed applications must arrive at the International Liaison Office no later than December 22, 2011.
The need to visit Japan for inspection
This option basically consists of document review application. So, no need to visit Japan to take the exam. However, you can be contacted by telephone, video conference system or Skype, if deemed necessary.

* Completed Application Form
* Transcript of Academic Official or certified copies of educational institutions previously attended. If you have changed your university, including the transcript of former university or college as well. It must be in English. If original documents are not in English, then you must submit a certified copy of the original is accompanied with an English translation by a competent person or organization.
* Official degree certificates or certified copies of diplomas. This should be translated to English. (If you are a currently enrolled student, please include an official letter or certificate of expected graduation.)
* Two confidential letters of recommendation.
* TOEFL score sheet
The following applicants are exempted from submitting a TOEFL score sheet.
1) Those who graduated from university or graduate school located in a country where English is the native language.
2) Those who complete the undergraduate or master's programs offered in English. If you fall into this category, please include a certificate that shows that English is the language of instruction in your program previously attended.
3) Those who presented evidence in any way that the applicant has the ability in the English language equivalent to those described in Item 1 or 2.
* Plan for Research and Supervisors are expected to
Explain the theme and content of your research that you want to do on GPSs. In addition, supervisors are expected to choose three from a list of faculty members in GPSs and make a list of their names. If you can not find 3 expected supervisors from the list of members of this program, then you can include at most two of the prospectus the entire Division of Environmental Studies. Statement and the list should be typed on A4 size paper. This will not exceed three pages in length. (Single spaced, and your name must appear on every page)
