Geographic information is a rapidly growing economic sector: recommended, that 80% of all decisions in Economics and Politics has a spatial relationship. The purpose of the Master's program in Geospatial Technologies is to form specialists able to implement various projects in the geospatial industry and academia.

Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies qualifies for professional careers in the following domains:

The private sector: GI applications and consulting in the domains of regional planning, landscape planning, the financial services industry, providing the energy industry, transport, agriculture and forestry, and retail / marketing;
Research: Applied sciences at universities and other research institutions;
The public sector: GI applications and consulting in local and regional governments, especially in the cadastre and the various types of planning (eg, regional, traffic, ecology).

Master's program targets holders of Bachelor's degree with a qualification applications in the field of Geographic Information (GI), for example, environmental planning, regional planning, geography, logistics, transportation, marketing, energy provision, computer science.

International Master's Program (Master of Science, M.Sc.) in Geospatial Technologies is a cooperation of:

Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU), Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi), Münster, Germany.
Universitat Jaume I (UJI), Castellón, Dept. Lenguajes y Sistemas Informaticos (LSI), Castellón, Spain.
Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL), Instituto Superior de Estatística e Gestão de Informação (ISEGI), Lisboa, Portugal,

Masters Program in Geospatial Technologies has been selected in the Erasmus Mundus Programme, 2007 - 2013, reference projects MUNB123 2007-0064/001 FRAME.

Masters Program in Geospatial technology has been re-elected for five subsequent editions beginning in 2012, FPA-reference project 2012-0191.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships: Call for applications

New call for applications 2012 for Erasmus Mundus Masters program in Geospatial Technology is open now. Starting from the next edition of the Master's program will be September 1, 2012. We will be able to provide the following scholarships (number to be confirmed):

~ 5 financial contribution to the European Union students (in this context of a citizen or resident (> 1 year) from EU member states and the countries of the EEA-EFTA).
~ A full scholarship each to students from the three "Windows" (a. Western Balkans and Turkey, and Egypt, Tunesia b., c. "Eastern Countries Around" (ie Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine).
~ 7 full scholarships to third country students (or residents of other countries above).
~ Two scholarships for third country scholars (visiting researcher), starting ~ September 1, 2012, both in Lisbon, Portugal, or Castellón, Spain.

Date & Time Limits

Please note that there are different deadlines for your application:

January 15, 2012:

EU students applying for Erasmus Mundus grant
Third country students and students from the "Windows" to apply the Erasmus Mundus grants
Third country scholars (visiting researcher) to apply for Erasmus Mundus grant

July 31, 2012:

Students are NOT applying for Erasmus Mundus grant, however the previous application is recommended especially for applicants from countries of non-Europeans because of the visa process.

Applications must be submitted in parallel, online via the paper-based systems and applications on the same deadline.

Time deadline for submitting electronic applications is 18:00 CET (Central European Time = GMT +1) from the date of the deadline.

The paper-version must be sent by registered mail, post-stamped until the deadline and be RECEIVED within one week after each deadline at the latest!

Formal Requirements

Student
All applicants applying as a student for Master's Program in Geospatial Technologies will be assessed against the criteria for official recognition as follows:

In the evaluation procedure, up to 32 students will be accepted each year (fall / winter semesters), half of them start at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a half at the Universitat Jaume I, Castellón. Overall entry requirements specified by the respective national laws for Higher Education in Spain and Portugal.
A requirement for admission is a Bachelor's degree within six semesters full-adequate (= 180 ECTS credit points) or more, as recognized by the partner universities in Germany, Portugal, or Spain, to enter into graduate studies. Master Program in Geospatial Technologies is recommended for students with a relevant degree in the area of ​​geographic information applications. In the case of uncertainty, the board of examination or Master's Degree Program coordinator decides about relevance.
Meet the 150 points ECTS credits in undergraduate programs in progress is NOT enough to apply for Erasmus Mundus grant a third country or the student window. For EU students applying for a scholarship, 150 credits are acceptable for initial approval, if a law degree provided until July 15 that year. For other students - not applying for scholarships - on the basis of an individual's evalution 150 credits are acceptable for initial approval, if a law degree provided at registration.
Study programs in English. Therefore, a TOEFL certificate (minimum of 500 points, paper-based), or equivalent, is required. Equivalent to certificates from other agencies such as the IELTS (academic), previously Bachelor or Master's program taught entirely in English (must be documented), or English as mother tongue.

Motivation letter
European CV format (see template)
Recommentation letters (minimum of 2)
Proof of citizenship (certified copy passport)
Passport photos
List the name of the reference

Scholar
All applicants applying as a scholar will be assessed against the criteria for official recognition as follows:

Master's program in English. Therefore, a TOEFL certificate (minimum of 500 points, paper-based), or equivalent, is required.
The scholar must be applied in full compliance to the admission procedure was published in http://www.mastergeotech.info
Submission within the deadline (telephone interview via Skype to pre-selected candidates in January / February)
Parallel application: online application through the system, and send the original documents by post
Completeness of personal information
Completeness and correctness of supporting documents:
