Global South Scholar-In-Residence Fellowship, Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Switzerland- The Guild is open to talented young professors from universities from developing countries and advanced developing pursue research in areas bridging the fields of international studies and development, broadly defined, and work in such disciplines as anthropology, history, law, politics and political science, and the economy.

The scholars will spend a semester at the Institute for:

Update and strengthen their course curriculum;
Further personal research project;
Participate in the teaching program;
Interacting with the international community of the Institute and the Geneva area.

Scholars accept contributions toward the cost of living. This scholarship also includes round trip travel and accommodation in Geneva.

Selection will be based on the quality of research. The same quality, selection can be guided by an interest in promoting gender and regional differences. Candidates must demonstrate how their research will continue to contribute to academic careers and their home institutions.

Conditions for application
Candidates must hold a PhD and have a full time period-track or tenured positions at academic institutions in Africa, Asia, or Latin America.

Teaching and research activities and interests of the Institute shall be in accordance with the discipline and field of expertise (international affairs, development studies, development economics, sociology and anthropology of development history, international economics, international relations, international law, international and political).

Special consideration will be given to individuals with an interest in international governmental and / or research on international organizations in Geneva to join the Program Institute for the Study of International Governance.

PURPOSE
Scholars will:

Update and strengthen their course curricula through close contact with colleagues working in the same field or area of ​​expertise;
Furthermore, a private research project by taking advantage of the expertise available mostly in Institute research centers and programs, as well as library resources, one of Europe's most important repository in the field;
Participate in teaching courses (depending on the needs of the study plan, they may be called to teach courses for the semester overall);
Interacting with students and faculty of the Institute, as well as with international, public and private sector actors from the Geneva area.

BENEFITS

The Institute will cover travel expenses and visa for the participants as well as accommodation costs;
This will ensure a monthly salary to compensate in case of loss of income * in the institution of origin and to cover the cost of subsistence in Geneva; the presentation of certificates
Participants will be provided with work space, and access to the Institute library and IT facilities.

HOW TO APPLY
Application deadlines:

October 1, 2011 Residence in Spring Semester 2012 (mid-February to late May)
March 1, 2012 for Fall Semester Residence in 2012 (mid-September to late January)
