ichard Motyka Brain Tumor Research Fellowship
2012 - 2014 Outline & Guideline
Richard Motyka Brain Tumor Research Fellowship is named in honor of Richard by his sister Alison, and made possible through the generosity of Alison and Darrell Jones.
Brain tumors are the Canada Foundation, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to reaching every Canadian affected by brain tumors through support, education, information, and research.
Fellowship is offered to assist us with our vision to find the cause and cure for brain tumors while improving the quality of life for those we serve and in recognition of the critical need to increase the focus on brain tumor research.
Richard Motyka Brain Tumor Research Fellowship to encourage and enable young clinicians and scientists to enter the field of brain tumor research and will accelerate research that leads to a cure for brain tumors.
Canada Foundation for brain tumor brain tumor researchers are looking for exceptional people to continue Richard Motyka Brain Tumor Research Fellowship July 1, 2012 for a study to be conducted in Canada.
FELLOWSHIP OF FUNDED
Applications will be considered for the second study, Basic or Translational clinical and research all the focus will be given serious consideration, including pediatric brain tumors.
Basic Research: In this context, the research 'base' involves the development of new concepts (ie) signaling pathway using an in vitro model. Basic science research is intended to increase our scientific knowledge base, with the intention of improving our understanding of the causes and progression of brain tumors.
Clinical Research: In this context, 'Clinical' is defined as research that involves a particular person or group of people. This includes treatment trials, epidemiological studies, the research quality of life, outcomes, health services research or patient-oriented research. The process of clinical research must protect personal data.
Translational research: In this context, 'Translational' is defined as pre-clinical studies evaluating the therapeutic potential of new discoveries in both basic mechanisms of brain tumor pathogenesis or experimental therapeutics. Studies in humans are excluded. For example, the proposed research could determine the safety, toxicity and / or efficacy of therapeutic or diagnostic modality in experimental model systems, or define the pharmacokinetics / pharmacodynamics of therapeutic agents or new therapeutic approaches for the therapy of brain tumors in experimental model systems. Pilot or Phase 0-III studies involving patients who were excluded but studies involving tissues or biofluids are acceptable, with the approval of the local IRB.
