China / AUN Master & Doctoral Scholarships for ASEAN Citizens


China / AUN Scholarship is a full scholarship program provided for ASEAN member countries by the Ministry of Education of PR China (hereinafter referred to as MOE). MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and conduct routine management of this scholarship program.

Category Applicants

Masters students: 2-3 academic years
Doctoral degree students: 3-4 academic years

Language instruction can be either Chinese or English. Applicants who apply for the courses are instructed in Chinese are required to take Chinese language courses a year before the Chinese academic studies if they are not qualified. Only by passing a test of Chinese language program, they can begin their major studies. For those taking the Chinese language preparation courses, the duration of the scholarship will be extended automatically for one year.

Scholarship students must complete their studies within a maturity, the duration for the scholarship is determined at the time of receipt can not be extended in principle.

APPLICATION
Applicants apply for the ASEAN University Network Secretariat between January and early April, 2012.

Criteria & Requirements

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens of ASEAN member countries and are in good health.
Educational background and age limit:
Applicants for master degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
Applicants for doctorate studies should have a master's degree and be under the age of 40.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, and the cost for basic learning materials and accommodation costs for the dorm on campus;
Living allowance;
One-time settlement subsidy after registration for new students;
The cost for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China;
One-off inter-city travel subsidy.

Note:

The cost of the laboratory experiment or internship beyond the university setting should be fairly administered.
Fee for basic learning materials covers only the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host institution, and other textbooks and materials will be self-administered.
Monthly living allowance is awarded to students via the host institution with the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
Master's degree students: CNY 1700 Yuan
Degree students: CNY 2000 Yuan

Scholarship students will get their monthly living allowance after registration. New students who register before the 15th (15th included) of the registration month will get the full amount of living allowance of that month, and those who register after 15th will get half amount. Students upon graduation will receive a living allowance for 15 days after the date set by the university graduation. Allowance will be discontinued from next month after students terminate their studies, drop school or complete school of the university. Monthly living allowance covers school holidays. Scholarship students who miss a monthly living allowance during holidays can be replaced upon return on campus. Allowance will be delayed for at least one month for students who do not register on time without permission from the university, leave for non-health reasons or are still far from the university more than a month.

Students who must postpone their studies to become pregnant or because of health reasons are required to return to their home countries for work or for treatment. International travel expenses to be borne by the students themselves. With the approval of the university, scholarship status can be reserved up to one year, and they will be deferred annuity during their leave. Scholarship status will not be provided to those who defer their studies for other reasons.
New students will receive a one-time settlement subsidy upon arrival in China.
CNY 1500 yuan for new students who will study in China for one academic year and above
The cost for outpatient medical service refers to the cost of hospital outpatient hospital or institution designated by the agency. Students to cover a certain percentage of the cost of compliance with the relevant institutions.
Comprehensive Health Insurance and Protection Scheme for International Students in China is provided by MOE for the scholarship students in China in case of hospitalizing for serious diseases and accidental injuries. Institutions or agencies designated medical help provide advancement service for insurance expenses, and claims for compensation with relevant payment receipts from the insurance company in accordance with the stipulated insurance articles. For student scholarships, individual claims will not be accepted by insurance companies.
One-off inter-city travel subsidy (each for coming-in and leaving China)
A hard-seat train ticket (hard-dock rail ticket for overnight trip) will provide scholarships for students traveling.
From the port of entry upon registration to the city where the institution to admit or Chinese language training institution or the preparatory education institution is located;
Of Chinese language training institution or the preparatory education institution to the city where the university for major study is located;
Of the city where the institution is located to the nearest port for departure upon graduation.
Eating and excess baggage should be self-administered.
In principle, the port of entry are Beijing, or the port of entry near the university is located.
International travel expenses: self-administered

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
The applicants must fill out and provide the following documents completely, correct and complete (in duplicate).

Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (filled in Chinese or in English). Applicants must fill out and print the application form after submitting it online. CSC Online Application System Study in China are available at http://laihua.csc.edu.cn Those who can not register online must fill out an application form printed by CSC.
The highest diploma (notarized photocopy): Applicants must also provide evidence of learning on the application. Documents in languages ​​other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
Academic transcripts (notarized photocopy): Transcripts in languages ​​other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
A study or research plan written in Chinese or English (no less than 400 words).
Letter of recommendation: Applicants for senior scholars must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English professors from professors or associate.
Photocopy of Foreign Physical Examination Form (the original copy shall be retained by the applicant. Form printed by Chinese quarantine authority can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn). Medical examination must include all items listed in the Foreign Physical Examination Form. Complete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are not valid. Please select the appropriate time to take a medical examination because it is only valid for 6 months.

Above documents should be forwarded to the CSC by 30 April 2012 through the ASEAN University Network Secretariat. Individual applications are not accepted by CSC. The application documents will not be refunded.

SELECTION AND INSTITUTIONS Advantage
Applicants may choose one academic program and three institutions as their preference of Heis China designated by the Ministry of Environment. Please check the Directory of Chinese Higher Institutions Admitting International Students in the Chinese Government Scholarship Program. Applicants are required to fill in their preferences of institutions and specialties strictly in accordance with that listed in the Directory.

AGREEMENT AND NOTICE

CSC will assess all applications and documents CSC reserves the right to make the necessary adjustments to the proposed institute.
Applicants are required to attach a statement of recognition of Heis China, if they have, in documents submitted to the CSC.
Students are required to sign the Registration Statement, if they do not object to the placement, and are not allowed, in principle, to change their specialties, institutions or study period specified in the Registration Statement.
CSC will send the Registration Statement and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to the candidates through the ASEAN University Network Secretariat by July 31, 2012.

VISA APPLICATION
After receiving the Notice of Acceptance, the student must apply for a visa to study in China at the Chinese embassy or consulate-general in their home country with the Registration Statement, Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) and Foreign Physical Examination Form (can be downloaded from http:// / www.csc.edu.cn). The students are required to enroll in Chinese universities with the original copy of the document above.
