Description
The Endeavour Awards are a part of the Australia Awards initiative which was announced by the Prime
Minister in November 2009. The Australia Awards have been established to maximize the benefit to
Australia of its extensive scholarship programs, and to support enduring ties between Australia and its
neighbors. The Endeavour Research Fellowships provide financial support for postgraduate students and
postdoctoral fellows from participating countries to undertake short-term research (46 months) towards a
master, PhD or postdoctoral research in their home country, in any field of study, in Australia? and for
Australian postgraduate and postdoctoral students to undertake short term research (46 months)
towards a master, PhD or postdoctoral research in Australia, in any field of study, in participating
countries. The fellowships aim to: further develop award holders’ knowledge and skills in their field of
research? strengthen bilateral ties between Australia and the participating countries? showcase Australia’s
educational sector? strengthen mutual understanding between the people of Australia and award holders’
home countries? and build international linkages and networks.

Duration: 6.0 months
Annual value: $A 23,500.00
Total value: $A 23,500.00
Extra Details: The awards are valued at up to a total of A$23,500. Benefits include: a travel allowance of
$4,500? an establishment allowance of $4,000? and a monthly stipend of $2,500 (for up to 6 months on a
pro-rata basis). Funds are not available to support accompanying dependants or for return visits home.
Award holders must spend a minimum of 4 months and a maximum of 6 months at their host institution.
The research project cannot be broken into 2 or more visits to the host country.

Eligibility criteria
General information
International applicants must: be citizens or permanent residents of a participating country and be
physically resident in that country (those holding dual Australian citizenship or permanent residency
status in Australia are ineligible to apply)? have completed an undergraduate degree that demonstrates
high academic achievement? demonstrate English language proficiency? either be enrolled in a master or
PhD course in their home country or have completed a PhD? and have a confirmation of acceptance or
affiliation with a host institution in Australia. Australian applicants must: be citizens or permanent
