Erasmus Mundus Master Scholarship in Evolutionary Biology, Europe USA

The European Commission will provide a number of scholarships to highly qualified students to participate in the program MEME. Selection procedures for this scholarship will be conducted by the Committee on Revenue and Examination of the MEME program. Every year, a maximum of 18 scholarships will be awarded to students who participated, for example in 2011 there are nine category A scholarship for students and 8 scholarships for students category B. Due to a European Union initiative called "Western Balkans and Turkey Window", we can single award additional scholarships to students from the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia and Turkey. This scholarship is awarded as a category A scholarship.

Scholarships for both categories of students will cover all costs of participation for the MEME program, including tuition, insurance fees language courses and summer schools. In addition, scholarships are as follows:

Category A Scholarship: A monthly allowance of € 1,000 and the annual contribution for travel and installation costs of € 4,000.
Category B Scholarship: A monthly allowance of € 500 and an annual contribution for travel and installation costs of € 1,500.

The European Union requires that we maintain geographical balance to admit students who received scholarships: not more than two students from one country can receive scholarships for the program MEME.

Fill in the application form PDF, use Acrobat Reader version X to fill out a form. After that set up the electronic application package, which contains the following documents in PDF format (for details on how to name files, please see the Summary section below):
Fill out the PDF application form. On the form (page 1) you can show what you are applying for (tick all boxes that apply to you): 1. MEME program, 2. scholarships, 3. Partial tuition fee waiver (if you're interested in joining the MEME program with your own funds if not selected for a scholarship, check this box).
Certified copies of academic documents, including diplomas and (if available) diploma supplement (including certified translation if these documents are not in English, French or German). If you do not already have a diploma, you must provide us with certified copies of documents that conclusively prove that you will complete your BSc degree before the MEME program began in September 2012.

Letter of motivation (very important)
A valid copy of the first page of your passport
Certification of proficiency in English (please add scans of the test results for application packages)
Submit a complete application package for meme@rug.nl. Make sure you receive a confirmation e-mail within 7 days (if not, please contact us again).
Send the reference PDF form, at least two, but preferably three qualified referees, and make sure that they fill it and send it to meme@rug.nl, including the candidate's name in the title of the e-mail. It is the responsibility of the candidate that all forms of referees arrive before the deadline. The referee should send the completed form their reference MEME - candidates are not allowed to do this.

Only complete application packages with completed registration form will be considered for selection.

You are welcome to add additional documents with additional relevant information (please see the Summary section below). Please check that you submit all required documents above. If you can not send certain documents have not, please explain this on page 4 of your application form and show when we can expect to receive the remaining documents. When your application packet is missing any documents (without explanation), you will receive an email reminder. If you do not react to this email before the deadline, we unfortunately can not take your application to be considered for selection.
