Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies is pleased to announce its 2012-2013 Walter H. Shorenstein scholarship. Made possible through the generosity of Walter H. Shorenstein, awards will be made to two junior scholars (recent PhDs must have degree conferral by August 31, 2012) for research and writing on Asia.

The main focus of this program is to change the political, economic, social or contemporary in the Asia-Pacific (including Northeast, Southeast, and South Asia), or topics in international relations and international political economy. Fellows must be in residence during the appointment, which begins fall quarter of academic year 2012-2013. They must take part in center activities throughout the academic year, and was required to present their research results in seminar center. Fellows also participate in the publishing center. The fellowship includes a stipend of $ 50,000 for 10 months, plus $ 3,000 for materials research.

Applicants must submit:

Research brief statement (not to exceed five typed pages), which describes the research and writing that will be conducted during the fellowship period and published a proposed product;
curriculum vitae, and
three letters of recommendation.

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF ALL MATERIALS ARE A December 31, 2011.
