Choreomundus investigating dance and other movement systems (ritual practice, martial arts, games and physical theater) as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in the wider context Ethnochoreology, Anthropology of Dance, Dance Studies, and Heritage Studies.
This program is offered by a consortium of four universities are recognized for their leadership in innovative curriculum development for the analysis of dance.
Choreomundus focuses on fieldwork and formal analysis of the movement, and engage with a variety of theoretical and methodological framework. This program develops an appreciation of dance comparative, cross-cultural, applied, and embodied, and gives students the tools to make sense of the intangible heritage in a culturally diverse world.
In the first semester all students began in Norway for the induction and intensive courses. For the remainder of the first academic year, they are divided between NTNU Trondheim and UBP Clermont-Ferrand, and then spend their third semester in Hungary, and the fourth and final term in the UK. Students who successfully complete the program will be awarded a Master's degree combined from all four universities
Admission Requirements
Applications are invited from individuals who have:
* A first degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS) from a recognized higher education institutions (universities, colleges, conservatories ...) preferably in dance studies, anthropology, folklore, heritage studies or in related subjects (drama and / or theater , music, sports and human movement studies, sociology, cultural studies) or equivalent professional experience.
Equivalent qualification * English International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level of 6.5 in each band (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking). See the right column.
* Two letters recommentation support their application.
* Expertise in or understanding of dance or movement-related practices (rituals, games, martial arts and physical theater) which can be demonstrated through one or more of the following:
1. movie clip / DVD or online video no more than three minutes duration, demonstrating his own dancing, choreography or other relevant performance or production, or their teaching
2. an essay of not more than three pages, with a focus either on aspects of contextual and / or movements of a dance or other related practices
3. a publication of the relevant
Selection criteria:
Students will be selected on the following basis:
1. The first level value accounting for 50% of the final decision
2. CV includes achievements in the field of dance or other relevant cultural, performance or practice movement is confirmed by sending a DVD clips / movies online, essay or other endorsement: accounting for25% of the final decision.
3. Personal statement accounting for 25% of the final decision
Class is assumed to mirror the applicant's academic competence, but not necessarily their competence in the field of dance or other movement practices. In accordance with the requirements of Life Long Learning, students may be accepted based on a combination of formal learning / education and approved prior learning and work experience.
Candidates should consider that with a limited number of funded places are offered, not all applicants are accepted into the course will be awarded a scholarship, especially as the European Union to limit scholarships to two per country, to ensure geographic diversity.

Native speakers of English are exempt from giving evidence. Transcript of TOEFL / IELTS score or equivalent should be obtained no more than 2 years before the time of application. For the purposes of registration students can submit scanned copies of their transcripts. Students who have been selected for admission must request ETS to send transcripts directly to the institution coordinating the TOEFL Choreomundus (NTNU).
Erasmus Mundus scholarship Student 2012
Choreomundus will be able to offer: 9 Category A and Category B 7 scholarship students.
In addition and similar to previous years, additional scholarships to be made available to:
1. Students from the "Western Balkans and Turkey"
2. Students from "Tunisia and Egypt"
3. Students of "Neighbourhood Eastern countries" (ie Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine)
The distribution of scholarships among 131 EMMC consortium offering scholarships in 2012 will depend on demand and on the respective geographical balance among candidates from the countries concerned.
Students category
Category B students from 27 European Union member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway.
Category A students from other countries in the world, provided they are not currently residents of countries that qualified (above), also did not perform their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the country. If so, they must register as student B category.
