General
Each academic year, GRIPS admit 250 students for the Master's program and 24 students for doctoral programs. For those who entered GRIPS in October, the academic year for Master's program operates from October to September.
For the Master's program, the deadline to apply is set by each program in order to accommodate the scholarship selection process of the sponsors. Roughly speaking, the deadline to apply for this scholarship in early November. The final results of the screening will be announced in late July at the latest.
Scholarship
Full scholarships are available for highly qualified candidates who have been accepted for study at GRIPS. This scholarship is provided by the Japanese Government (MEXT), international organizations and GRIPS. You can apply for one of them when you file for an application for admission.
What the scholarship covers
1. A monthly salary is intended to cover living expenses such as food, clothing and other daily needs, as well as insurers, and others related to your study at GRIPS. This salary is fixed and can not be upgraded to cover family members. The number of allowances you may change slightly due to the economic situation in Japan.
2. Application, entrance and tuition fees
3. Round-trip economy class airfare between your home country and Japan.

We accept online applications for admission in 2012 for the following programs:
* One-year Master of Public Policy Program (MP1)
* Two-year Master of Public Policy Programme (MP2)
* Macroeconomic Policy Program (one year and two years)
* Public Finance Program
* Doctoral Program
* Program Policy Analysis
Please note that you will not be listed as 'applicant' until we have received all the supporting documents.
In case you do not have access to a computer Admissions Office will receive a paper based application form. Please contact us and we will send you a paper based application form by mail.
The deadline for 2012 entry:
The deadline for applications can be changed in a short time, through referrals from the Japanese Government (MEXT). These changes are exclusively for MP1, PA, Ph. D. applicants.

* January 13, 2012: * Two-year Master Program of Public Policy (MP2) / * for scholarship applicants only. Note: Please be sure to get ID & Password for online application by submitting Form Sign slowest January 6, 2012.
* February 23, 2012: Public Finance Program. Note: Please be sure to get ID & Password for online application by submitting Form Sign slowest February 16, 2012.
* May 14, 2012 **: MP1, MP2 and Macroeconomic Policy Program / ** for applicants who are supported by others and self-financed scholarships. Note: Please be sure to get ID & Password for online application by submitting Form Log May 7, 2012 at the latest.
Note
1. Letters of recommendation must be submitted in sealed envelopes, signed on the seal. Recommendations must be written by someone who has supervised the applicant either in academic or work capacity. For programs MP1, MP2 and Doctor, preferably, a letter must be written by a university professor and the other should be written by a senior member of the applicant's work now.
2. An official copy means a certified true copy of the original document with an official seal obtained from the administrative office of the university attended. An original copy of the original document certified by a notary are also acceptable. Copies evidenced by the organization / person who does not have a notary / legal functions will not be accepted or considered for screening.
3. All documents must be presented in English. Translation in English without an official seal obtained from the office attending the university administration or without the signature of the drawer recommended or documents can not be accepted.
4. Documents sent and digital copies sent through e-mail that can not be accepted.
