SPECIAL GRADUATE PROGRAM
The above three Departments in the Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo, offering opportunities for further study and academic research for foreign students under the Special Engineering Graduate Program for Innovation Systems. This program involves the Master (two years) and PhD (three years) courses leading to a corresponding degree. Applicants accepted for the program will be listed in the following winter semester, which begins on October 1, 2012. Lectures and instruction for the research was provided in English. Japanese language courses are available optionally.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Approximately ten successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship received from the MEXT, Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Scholarships (amount of monthly salary is 155,000 yen to 156,000 yen a Masters or Doctorate for the course if you research the place in Tokyo would change depending on the annual budget every year?) Is to cover living expenses as well as round-trip airfare. Scholarship recipients are also exempted from both entrance fee and tuition fees.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants who qualify for admission to the Master's course must hold or obtain a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, and one for the doctoral program must hold or obtain a Master's degree in the same or equivalent at the end of September, 2012. Applicant must be aged under 35 on April 1, 2012 and must be a citizen by the Japanese government which has diplomatic relations. Military personnel and military civilian employees are not eligible. Someone with more than one nationality can not be the students who received scholarships MEXT.
APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Documents listed below must reach the Office of International Students Department of Systems Innovation by December 9, 2011. 1. Application form for Japan (MEXT) Scholarship Government. (Form # 1).
2. Field of study and the study of plans for Japan (MEXT) Scholarship Government. (Form # 2)
3. Applicant card (Form # 3).
4. A health certificate completed by a registered medical doctor (Form # 4). A copy of the latest medical records of periodic check-up of your agency substituted for Form # 4 can be accepted.
5. Graduation and degree certificates for each period of study (undergraduate, master, doctor), with an English translation if the original is not in English. If you have not graduated yet and can not get them, please send a certified graduate of the future - it should be written the date you will be awarded a degree. Degree certificate must be submitted on September 30, 2012 at the latest.
6. Official transcript of academic records of undergraduate and graduate institutions that each applicant graduated from or currently enrolled. If the original is not in English, an English translation must be attached.
7. Two evaluation reports (ie confidential evaluation report on the applicant). One evaluator must be a dean or a person who holds a high position in the institution that the applicant is currently present or most recent present. The other should be a faculty member of the applicant's institution who know well such as academic advisers. The evaluation is expected to rank the applicant in accordance with his / her particular educational value in units of, for example, "the top 3 among 98 students from the department, the top 5% among 350 graduates" (see example). The report must be signed, sealed, and then sent directly to the Office of International Students Department of Systems Innovation.
8. A letter of recommendation from the dean of academic institution that the applicant's most recently graduated from or currently enrolled in. The letter should be written as "President of the University of Tokyo" and recommended a signature, e-mail address and telephone number must be indicated. Make sure not to send it directly to the President. This should be signed, sealed, and then sent directly to the Office of International Students Department of Innovation Systems.
9. A photocopy of your passport (do not send your original passport). If the applicant does not have a valid passport, census register, or other available evidence of citizenship must be submitted.
10. Six photos (4.5cm x 3.5cm) taken within the last six months. Note that one of them must be inserted on Form # 1
11. A summary of the thesis, research papers and other publications written by the applicant.
12. Official TOEFL score report (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or photocopy of TOEFL Score Record that were tested. Applicants can ask the Educational Testing Service to send his / her official score report directly to us, using the DI code "8596" and the Department code "99". These figures are not reflected in the code department name us. But they are correct. If the applicant can not submit a TOEFL score, one of the following official certificate is required. This is the IELTS, TOEIC, and Cambridge Examination. Clause (12) does not apply to the native English-speaking applicants.
13. Scores GRE (Graduate Record Examination), if available.
Applicants are selected primarily based on academic qualifications in accordance with the documents submitted their applications. The primarily the result of selection will be notified via e-mail to the applicant at the end of January 2012. IMPORTANT NOTE
1. Documents submitted will not be returned.
2. All applicants for a specific program must have completed at least 16 years of school education and have graduated from a university or equivalent. In the event that the applicant has not completed 16 years of school education, but it has been recognized as a university graduate (with a degree), the exact nature of the applicant's educational background in relation to the education system / country must be explained clearly using a separate sheet.
3. Any applicant who makes an application for more than one institution other 2012 MEXT scholarship will be automatically disqualified. Petitioner also disqualified when he / she has been found to have intentionally providing false information to deceive the selection process.
4. Successful applicants of the specific programs that should be arriving at Narita International Airport or the "Tokyo International Airport (Haneda airport)" in Japan on a fixed date in early October, 2012. Registration may be canceled if one fails to arrive within the specified time period in early October 2012.
5. MEXT scholarship successful applicants can not receive another scholarship after registration.
SCHEDULE AND CORRESPONDENCE
Successful applicants will be announced from the special program of our Department-Office of International Student Innovation System, by the end of February 2012. Notice of final MEXT scholarship recipients will be informed of us after we will receive an announcement from the MEXT in late June 2012.
