The Symantec Research Labs Graduate Fellowship, USA

Symantec plans to begin accepting applications for the Fellowship in 2012 in July 2011. Award decisions will be made in February 2012.

Symantec will award Symantec Research Labs Postgraduate Scholarship for Ph.D. circulated and M.S. students who meet the criteria requirements listed below. The main purpose of this program is to fund innovative research that has real world value, in the areas of Symantec's business interests in information security, availability, and integrity.
Fellowship participants also get first-hand research and development experience through mentoring and coaching from a scientist on the Symantec Research Labs during the period of the alliance. Each participant is also encouraged to spend the summer working with their mentor at Symantec in a research project in the field of their interest.

Conditions Recognition

A scholarship is available to cover education, travel and living expenses for visits to conduct research on our campus (ie affordable cost up to $ 25,000 which will be replaced).
Scholarship recipients have used the free Environment Worldwide Intelligence Network Symantec - an infrastructure for experimental research in Symantec that provide unique access to the current sample of data security is used internally related feeds.
Mentors from Symantec Research Labs paired with the honorees. Mentor is a leading researcher who can provide ongoing technical assistance in researching the recipient, for their postgraduate training and summer internship at Symantec.
All recipients will be encouraged to take a paid summer internship with Symantec Research Labs (Mountain View, CA, Culver City, CA, Herndon, VA, or Sophia Antipolis, France).
Each recipient will be given a laptop loaded with Symantec software.
Scholarships are awarded to recipients for one academic year and can be extended for a second year, based on further development of exceptional academic honorees, standing and performance. Each extension will be granted only at the discretion of Symantec.

Eligibility Criteria

Applying students must attend a U.S. or European universities in the Ph.D. or Master's program focused on technology research. Exceptional graduate seniors may also apply and final award depends on their acceptance into the graduate program.
Preference will be given to students with a desire to work in a research laboratory industry and those working on research projects likely to have real world practical value to customers, in areas related to business Symantec information security, availability, and integrity.
Recipients will be selected based on their overall potential for research excellence and their academic progress to date as evidenced by publications.
Scholarship Awards will be made through the university and moved to academic institutions.

Required Application Information
Applications should be submitted as a single compressed file (zip file.) And should include the following:

A federal application form filled in completely, including the personal statement of research interests not exceeding 500 words. Strongly recommended that applicants to articulate the practical value to customers of their proposed study area.
A C.V. and a thesis proposal (optional).
Three letters of recommendation from professors, or industrial researchers can evaluate talent and potential applicants for scientific research (can be filed as confidential, please see the application form for instructions).
Incomplete applications can not be considered and we can not guarantee notification of incompleteness. Ensure that a complete application.

Date Application and Process

Scholarship applications will be accepted beginning July 2011.
Application deadlines are 18 December 2011.
As part of the application process, some candidates may be contacted for telephone interviews.
Appreciation of the final decision will be announced in February 2012.
