Adelaide Scholarships International (ASI), University of Adelaide, Australia - University of Adelaide offers a scholarships scheme for international students doing postgraduate research studies. The goal is to attract high quality graduate students abroad to areas of research strength at the University of Adelaide to support research efforts. Selection for this scholarship is very competitive.
Some scholarships may be available in round ASI mid-year scholarship for the semester 2, 2012 for outstanding international students from any country doing postgraduate research in any academic discipline.
ASI provides:
Course tuition for two years for a Master by Research and three years for Doctoral degree studies (extension is possible for doctoral programs only);
An annual living allowance of about $ 23.728 (2012 value) for the normal duration of the program; and
If the holder of a subclass 574 visa appreciation awards include the cost of standard Overseas Student Health Cover policy mandatory (OSHC) Worldcare for students and their spouses and dependents (if any) for the period of scholarship. If the award holder does not hold a subclass 574 visa then he / she is responsible for the cost of health insurance.
Scholarship does NOT cover the cost of visa application.
Applicants must hold at least equivalent to Australia First Class Honours degree. This is a four-year degree with a major research project in the last year. Other criteria to be considered is the performance of undergraduate, graduate and honorary awards and scholarships, other postgraduate degrees, publications in international referee journals, conference papers and presentations relevant industry experience.
Applications for this scholarship are always very competitive. Generally the recipient ASI has completed a Master's degree including a significant research component and has several publications and relevant work and research experience.
Condition
ASI Scholarship will be awarded strictly on academic ability. Extra-curricular achievements will not be considered.
Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia, and New Zealand citizens are eligible.
They conduct research via remote candidature are not eligible.
International applicants are not eligible for breast milk if they have started their search for an award level, unless they can prove that they can not apply for milk in the last round of the previous calendar year.
International applicants who have not provided evidence of their English language proficiency requirements by the closing date are not eligible for an ASI.
International applicants must hold a research qualification regarded by the University of Adelaide to be the equivalent of the Australian Research Doctorate degree or, if doing a Master Research, the research does not hold qualifications deemed by the University of Adelaide equivalent to or higher than the Australian Research Masters degree.
Candidates are asked to register at the University of Adelaide as' international students and must maintain a status of 'international student' for the duration of their enrollment in the University.
Scholarship holders must begin studying at the University of Adelaide in semester 2, 2012. No milk can be started after 30 November 2012.
Scholarship winners will not be allowed to delay the start until 2013.
Applicants who applied in previous rounds of the international scholarship are not eligible to register again.
ASI scholarship offer is contingent on the student is not offered other awards by the Commonwealth of Australia, University of Adelaide, or sponsors abroad. University reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship offer at any time prior to enrollment if it is recommended that the scholarship recipient has been offered a scholarship equal to or more than the financial rewards offered by the University
Closing Date: May 1, 2012. We strongly recommend that all applicants submit an application and all required documents well before the closing date. Complete application on a scholarship application deadline will not be considered for scholarships.
Applicants will be notified in late June 2012 regarding the results of their scholarship application.
