Overseas Student Scholarship Fund is open to students who live outside the European Union and European Free Trade Area, which is responsible for paying the cost of education abroad and who the University of Abertay Dundee University believe will lead to additional personal and academic qualities. These funds will support individual scholarships based on academic achievement, and / or personal achievements both in sports or music. They will be available for students enrolling to study at Abertay in September 2012.

The value of each scholarship award will be directly related to the quality of the individual applicant's academic ability and / or personal achievements in sports or music.

Value of awards to individuals because it can vary, but will not exceed the value of tuition fees, and subject to the total amount of scholarship funds remaining when the application is considered.

The deadline for applications
The University has set a January 31, 2012 as the deadline for applications for the first round of awards. Two further rounds of applications for academic year 2012/13 will be invited with a deadline of April 30 and July 31, 2012.

Students who register for one or more full years of study at the University of Abertay Dundee, both at the undergraduate or graduate, will be eligible to apply for scholarships.

Students are given a place at the University of Abertay Dundee full-time degree program and awarded scholarships will benefit from the scholarship fund each year, to four years depending on the length of their course1. For taught postgraduate degrees, the successful applicant will enjoy a scholarship fund for the duration of their course (usually between 12 and 18 months).

Academic Merit Scholarships will be available to those with outstanding academic achievement, based on a proven record of their academic at school and / or college and / or university at the point of application.

Personal Achievement Scholarships will be available to those applicants whose personal accomplishments in sports or music show commitment and determination to excel in other aspects of life.

Personal Achievement Scholarships are not being presented as a Sport or Music Scholarships in the conventional sense. But they are designed to reward people who can demonstrate their achievements to date in the field they chose the music or sports. University of Abertay Dundee has a strong record of achievement of individuals and institutions in both regions. It's Elite Athletes program has been running very successfully for many years, supporting individual sports men and women who compete in national or international level, and who also represented the University in their sport. Among the sports Abertay alumni are: female tae kwon do world champion, European amateur golf champion, and international competitors to Scotland and or England at rugby, judo, athletics, figure-skating, hockey, gymnastics, soccer, and waterpolo. In music, Abertay is one of the few universities in the UK to have its own pipe band, associated with a traditional music club growing University.

Among the sports scholarships will be: 11 cricket Excellence Scholarship, Scholarship Golf Handicap 8, 11 Football Scholarship, 15 Rugby Union Scholarship, Scholarship 5 Star Basketball Player. Other sports scholarships are available for Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton, Ladies Netball, Boxing, and Snow Sports.

Applicants will be asked to justify their application through, for example, membership of their relevant sports team or a national or regional real excellence at club level.

Among the music scholarships available will be: 2 Piano Solo Performance Scholarship, Scholarship Piano Ensemble 2, 4 Keyboard Scholarship Digital Performance, 2 Solo Guitar Performance Scholarship, 2 Guitar Ensemble Performance Scholarships and fellowships for all parts of the orchestra's performance, as well as traditional musical instruments (non- -west) and the traditional western instruments (eg Fiddle, bagpipes). Applicants are expected to demonstrate their achievements through a certified performance skills in their chosen musical form.

Guidance Notes
Requirements: You can only apply for a scholarship if you have submitted an application for a place on a degree or postgraduate courses at Abertay.

Achievement levels music / sports required
We would hope that you will be able to submit proof of having reached an advanced level by a recognized body in the world of music or sports.

Music: Evidence of a successful examination performance (eg Associated Board Examination or equivalent) and / or the option to play in a regional or national orchestra or other group of great music success.

Sports: Evidence of selection for regional or national team or a recognized qualification from the Association approved sports body /. Applicants must submit proof of their disability to golf.

Scholarship Offer
Scholarships will only be paid if you managed to meet the conditions of the offer made and will be deducted from the overall cost of debt. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover the remaining costs.

Sign delay
It is not possible to defer a scholarship to start in one academic year. You will need to reapply.

Some scholarships
You can apply for any, or all achievement awards, sports or academic music but will not be possible to qualify for more than one scholarship us or any other cost reductions.

Recommendation Scholarship Pro-Forma
This should be a short letter on headed paper from your School, College, University, or the relevant Music / Sports Institute which states as follows:

This is to confirm that (Name of Institution) supports the application of (name of student) for scholarships on the basis of outstanding musical excellence / sports excellence in the region (eg violin / cricket)

Application submission
Applications for scholarships must be completed in full and all necessary documents must be submitted with the completed scholarship application form. If you do not provide all information and documentation requested, your application will not be considered.

Scholarship deadline
Scholarship Committee will meet on three occasions and the relevant deadlines are:

July 31, 2012

Applicants will be notified whether they have been successful within 4 weeks of the relevant closing date.

Terms and Conditions

Candidates must complete the relevant application form (if necessary) and supply supporting documents with the relevant deadline for the award. We regret that the application and associated documentation received after the deadline can not be considered.
This award is only available for qualified candidates to pay full-time tuition fees abroad.
Applicants must be available to take their places on the field in September 2012. Overseas scholarship award can not be postponed. Applicants who are unable to start the study at the time that must re-apply for consideration under the arrangement of Foreign Affairs Scholarships in the future.
After the award has been made, applicants must confirm their acceptance within two weeks of scholarship notification. Failure to do so will result in the award withdrawn and offered to another applicant.
Scholarships are awarded as a reduction in the total tuition fee payable; it's not cash awards.
Scholarships can not be used as a method to pay for university tuition prepayment requirements.
Sponsored students (defined as a government / corporate) are eligible to apply. As scholarships are discounted from the overall tuition fees paid, therefore reducing the cost of official sponsorship.
Applicants can apply for some scholarships, but students can only be given one of the University of Abertay Dundee Scholarship applicants are not able to receive several awards.
Students who come through one of our partner institutions can make an application to be considered for scholarships, but can only receive either a discount or scholarship partner.
Scholarship is a fixed value, does not increase with inflation and is given for the full length of course but not paid for years to repeat the study.
All students are awarded scholarships agreed to allow the Office of Student Recruitment to share data with other departments / services within the University.
University reserves the right to use the information collected from students who are awarded scholarships in our promotional activities, for example by displaying profiles / stories / details of the holder of an award in the University student recruitment activities, however, we will not provide your personal information without your permission, through a request from our .
University decisions on equality and the feasibility of your qualifications is final.
