Open Society Foundation / University of Nottingham aims to provide opportunity scholarships for independent postgraduate study in the UK for students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and potential to become leaders, decision makers and opinion formers in their own countries. After completing their studies in Britain, scholars are expected to return to their home countries to continue their studies or work there. In accordance with satisfactory progress, the scholarships lead to the award of a master's degree.

Scholarships are available to study for:

MPA in Public Health
MPH Public Health (International Health)
MA Environmental Management
LLM Human Rights Law (module associated with Mental Disability and International Human Rights is available in this course)
LLM International Law
MA Social and Global Justice
MA Global Citizenship, Identity and Human Rights
MA International Social Policy

Providing scholarships each twelve-month cost of education at the University of Nottingham, salary to cover living expenses (for one person only), and return air travel from home country scholars.

Requirements
This scholarship is open to applicants from Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Egypt, and Lebanon.

Applicants must be:

be a citizen, and resident in one country is selected during the academic year in which they are applying for the award; applicants while out of state (for a total period of less than three months in a row) can be treated as a resident;
display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
already hold (or expect to hold on while taking the award) is equivalent to degree level standard second-class Honours English well;
has passed the appropriate tests of English language by the time took the award;
not been received or is receiving financial benefits from the previous HMG fully funded scholarships;
return to their home country at the end of their scholarship period to continue their studies / work there.

Preference will be given to applicants who have never studied outside their home country.

Employees, relatives of employees (or former employees who have left employment less than two years previously) the local office of the Open Society Foundation representative in the region and the countries that qualify, and the participating universities will not be eligible to apply for an award this.

Applicants must complete:

University Postgraduate Application Form: please read it carefully and attach all additional documents requested in the application form.
Separate Scholarship Application Form.
Self-Assessment Form where you acknowledge your compliance with the eligibility criteria for this scholarship program.

Deadline
Completed forms and supporting documents must be returned to the local office of Open Society Foundation representative no later than February 6, 2012. One set of the original of the application package and two copies thereof shall be submitted.

Selection Process
Applicants selected will be invited for an interview and English test in their native countries during April 2012. Applicants should keep their schedules free for those dates. Applicants will be informed by the office of the Open Society Foundation, a local representative if they have been elected or not. Interviews will be conducted by representatives of the Open Society Foundation. In certain cases, there may also be panel members represent the interests of the University.

The final award will be decided jointly by the University and the Open Society Foundation.

Please note that all successful applicants will be invited to attend the one-month summer school preparatory academic writing in August 2012. Pre-Academic Summer Program Scholarship Program Open Society 'is designed to prepare scholars for successful academic experiences in the UK. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to improve their research and writing skills through intensive courses in academic writing and social sciences. The exact date and location of the summer school will be available at a later stage in the selection process.
