Global South Scholar-In-Residence Fellowship, Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Switzerland

The fellowship is open to talented young lecturers from universities from developing countries and pursue advanced research in areas bridging the fields of international and development studies, broadly defined, and work in disciplines such as anthropology, history, law, politics and political science, and economics .

The scholars will spend a semester at the Institute for:

Update and strengthen their course curriculum;
Promote private research projects;
Participate in the teaching program;
Interacting with the international community of the Institute and the Geneva area.

Scholars receive a contribution towards the cost of living. This scholarship also includes round-trip travel to and accommodation in Geneva.

Selection will be based on the quality of research. Same quality, selection can be guided by an interest in promoting gender and regional diversity. Candidates must show how the lives of their research will contribute to academic careers and their home institutions.

Conditions for application
Candidates must hold a PhD and have a full-time time-track or tenured positions at academic institutions in Africa, Asia, or Latin America.

Teaching and research activities and interests must be in accordance with, the Institute of AOS disciplines and areas of expertise (international affairs, development studies, development economics, sociology and anthropology of development, international economics, international relations, international law, international history and politics).

Special consideration will be given to individuals who are concerned with international governmental and / or research on international organizations in Geneva to join the Institute, AOS Program for the Study of International Governance.

PURPOSE
The graduate will:

Update and strengthen their course curricula through close contact with colleagues working in the same field or area of ​​expertise;
Further personal research project by taking advantage of the expertise available in most, the research center Institute for AOS and programs, as well as a library, resource AOS, one of Europe's most important repository in the field;
Participate in teaching programs (depending on the needs of the study plan, they may be called upon to teach courses for all semesters);
Interact with students and faculty of the Institute of AOS, as well as with international, public and private sector actors from the Geneva area.

BENEFITS

The Institute will cover travel expenses and visa for the participants as well as accommodation costs;
This will ensure a monthly allowance to compensate in case of loss of income at home institution * and to cover the cost of subsistence in Geneva, at the presentation of certificates
Participants will be provided with work space, and access to the Institute, AOS library and IT facilities.

HOW TO APPLY
Application deadline:

October 1, 2011 for Spring Semester Residence in 2012 (mid-February to late May)
March 1, 2012 for Fall Semester Residence in 2012 (mid-September to late January)
