Master & Doctoral Scholarships, Chongqing University, China

Chinese Government Scholarship 2012-2013 is now available for foreign students to pursue a master's or doctor's degree at Chongqing University.

Note:

Applicants may only apply to full-time degree program at the University of Chongqing.
HSK certificate level 4 or above is required to instruct the Chinese degree program applicants. Students can apply for China's one-year foundation program and must pass the HSK test before starting their main program.
For English-instructed degree program applicants, applicants should submit IELTS 6.0 or equivalent language proficiency certificates. Students who received and did not acquire language proficiency certificates can take the TOEFL ITP in the first semester at the University of Chongqing.

Requirements

Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
Educational background and age limit:
Applicants for master degree studies must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35.
Applicants for Doctoral degree studies must have master's degree and be under the age of 40.

Full Scholarship Details

Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation on campus;
Living allowance and a one-time settlement subsidy for new foreign students;
The cost for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
One-time cost of travel between cities by train;

Note:

The cost of the laboratory experiment or internship beyond the university setting must be paid by the student him / herself.
Fee for basic learning materials covers the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host institution, and other materials shall be paid by the student him / herself.
Monthly living allowance paid to students by the host institution with the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
Master's degree students, general scholars: CNY 1700 Yuan
Degree students, senior scholars: CNY 2000 Yuan
A one-time settlement subsidy after registration
CNY 1500 yuan for new foreign students to study in China for one academic year or more
The cost for outpatient medical service refers to the costs incurred outpatient hospital or hospital CQU appointed by CQU. The students have to pay a certain percentage of the cost of compliance with the relevant institutions.
Comprehensive Health Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China are insured by the Ministry of Education of China for the scholarship students in China against diseases and accidents. Institutions are entitled to request compensation for the receipt of payments from insurance companies for expenses generated from hospitalizing for serious illness or injury in accordance with the stipulated insurance articles.
A one-off inter-city travel ticket (each for coming-in and leaving China)
Scholarship students are supposed to choose the nearest port to their institutions to recognize the inter-city travel and a hard-seat train ticket (hard-dock train ticket for overnight trip) will be given to new students transferring from the port of entry to the city where the institution is located and admitted students completed a study in China transferring from the city where the institution is located to the nearest port for departure. Costs for food during the trip and excess of baggage should be self-administered.
International travel expenses will be self administered.

Application Materials

Applicants are required to submit an application on the website of China Scholarship Council and has a printed application and send it along with other required documents to the Office of International Students, University of Chongqing.

The applicants must fill out an application form and provide the following materials truly and correctly (one original and three copies).

Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (printed by CSC), in Chinese or in English. Applicants are required to submit an application on the website of China Scholarship Council and has a printed application. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If the applicant is a student or already working, they also must provide the document as a student or on-post employees. Documents in languages ​​other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.
Applicants for a master's degree must provide a notarized transcripts for bachelor's degree. Applicants for a medical degree must provide notarized transcript to a master's degree. Transcripts in languages ​​other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English.
A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words).
Applicants must submit two faculty letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate.
Applicants for music are requested to submit one cassette recording of the applicant's own work. Applicants for fine arts must submit six color photographs personal works (two sketches, two color paintings and two other works).
Photocopy of Foreign Physical Examination Form (printed by Chinese quarantine authority) filled in English. Medical examination must include all items listed in the Foreign Physical Examination Form. Complete records or those without the signature of the stamp, the official attending physician of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicant are not valid. Medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. Students who win the scholarship will be required to retake the physical examination when they arrived in China in September, 2012. All applicants are required to take these factors into consideration when determining the time to take a medical examination.
English or Chinese language proficiency certificate. (IELTS, TOEFL or HSK)

Application materials will not be returned without the application.

Approval and Notification

Applicants are required to fill out an online application form and submit application materials by mail to the International Students Office of Chongqing University before March 20, 2012. Office will send the application materials to the China Scholarship Council qualified for approval. This application will be seen as invalid and will not be processed if the applicant is not eligible or the application materials are inconsistent with the rules or incomplete registration.
Chongqing University International Student Office will inform applicants of the scholarship and send the final results of the Registration Statement and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to Scholarship applicants accepted by July 30, 2012.
Students are not allowed, in principle, to change their specialties, institutions, or the study period specified in the Registration Statement after registration.
