Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students, China - University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) manages three types of international student scholarships offered by the Shanghai Municipal Government in an effort to encourage international students and scholars who are very good to learn at USST.
Type I. scholarship and will be applicable
1. Type A (full scholarship)
It is awarded to excellent international students who will apply for Master / Doctoral degree program in USST
2. Type B (partial scholarship)
It is awarded to excellent international students who will apply for the Bachelor / Master / Doctoral degree program in USST
3. Type C (scholarships for outstanding students)
It is awarded to outstanding international students who take long-term degree program in USST.
II. Scholarship includes:
1. Type A (full scholarship)
Students who are awarded a scholarship type A will be exempt from registration fees, tuition, fees and basic learning materials and accommodation expenses will be provided with comprehensive health insurance for free. Master's and Doctoral degree candidates will enjoy a monthly living allowance of CNY1, 100 RMB and CNY1, 400 respectively.
2. Type B (partial scholarship)
Students who are awarded scholarships of type B will be exempt from registration fees, tuition fees, cost of study materials SD.
3. Type C (scholarships for outstanding students)
It is established to encourage international students currently enrolled are pursuing a very good long-term study at higher education institutions in Shanghai. The winners will receive a one-off scholarships in one academic year.
III. Prerequisites of applicants
1. Non-Chinese nationals in good health
2. Applicants pursuing a Bachelor's degree must hold a High School diploma or equivalent degree and be under the age of 25, and applicants can only apply for a Type B or Type C scholarships. Applicants pursuing a Master's degree must hold a bachelor's degree diploma or equivalent and should not be under the age of 35. Applicants must be pursuing a doctor holds a Master's diploma or equivalent and should not be under the age of 40.
3. The applicants must have good academic records.
4. The applicants must be in default of any other Chinese government scholarships.
IV. When applying and how to apply
Type A (full scholarship)
Type A application will be processed by the university from January 1 to June 10 each year.
Application materials:
1. Class Application Form of Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) A, filled in Chinese or English
2. Notarized copies and translations of Chinese or English language certificate of your highest education, including graduation and diploma. Letter of Verification must be provided if the applicant is a student or employed.
3. Official transcript of study records in Chinese or English. Chinese or English translation of the transcript must be notarized.
4. Study Plan in China (no less than 1,000 words) in Chinese or English;
5. Letter of recommendation in Chinese or English from two professors or associate professors from the institution where the applicant has completed or will complete the program of study;
6. Copy the results of the Chinese language proficiency test HSK 6 or above (for students taking courses taught in Chinese);
7. Students applying for arts programs must provide their works;
8. Copy of valid passport if available.
All materials as mentioned above will not be refunded.

Type B (partial scholarship)

Type C (scholarships for outstanding students)
Type C applications will be processed by the university from March 1 to September 30 every year.
Application materials:
1. Application Form of Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS) Class C, filled in Chinese or English;
2. Official transcript of study records;
3. Copy of valid passport.

All Type A, Type B and Type C scholarships must be applied for each academic year. Qualified applicants can apply in sequence.
V. Processing and End Results
The final results of the evaluation process will be notified of public scholarship in each July and November and an official certificate will be issued to each winner.
VI. About Visa Study in China and Formalities Registration Scholarship Winners
1. Visa to study in China
The winners of type A and type B scholarship who came to Shanghai from abroad must apply for a student visa (for students who will study for more than six months, "X" visa must be applied) to the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country with the original and a copy of the Notice of Acceptance, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202), Foreign Physical Examination Form, Notice Scholarship Award and a valid passport.
2. Registration
If there is a scholarship winner fails to register within the time limits without permission from the agency, he / she will be regarded as giving up acceptance and scholarships.
3. Health certificate and residence permit
Students with scholarship should bring a Foreign Physical Examination Form and go in and out of Shanghai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of International Travel Health Center for verification. If they do not have medical verification of the center, they must take a physical exam until they receive a Certificate of Health said the center. Anyone who refuses a physical examination or enter China with a particular disease will be rejected as stipulated by Chinese laws and regulations will be asked to leave China within a few days are limited and the scholarship will be canceled accordingly. Relevant costs are the students said. The accommodation and living allowance of the scholarship fund will be discontinued from that month.
Students with scholarships must apply for a residence permit to the Exit-Entry Bureau of Shanghai Police Station within 30 days from the date of entry into China.
