Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) is a scholarship program initiated and fully funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the budget for Development Cooperation.
The purpose of NFP
The overall purpose of the NFP is to help reduce the qualitative and quantitative lack of skilled manpower in various government, private organizations and non-government. This is to offer scholarships for mid career professionals to increase the capacity of organizations that employ them. Training need to be clear in the context of the organization. Implications that this candidate should be nominated by their employers. Applications without the support of employers considered not eligible.
Target group
NFP is targeted at mid-career professionals who are nationals of and working and living in one of 60 member countries of NFP. Candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa, women and members of the group priorities and / or marginalized areas specifically invited to apply for scholarships for NFP. This is because 50% of the available scholarships will be awarded to the women and 50% of the budget plan will be given to candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, the candidate of the group priorities and / or marginalized areas (to be determined by the Embassy) explicitly invited to apply.
Specific priority country
Further eligibility criteria for an embassy or consulate general to expand its own specific priority country. This reflects the embassy or consulate of choice for certain applications.
Priority can be of influence in the selection process. For this reason, candidates are advised to check at the embassy or embassy website if country-specific priorities occur.
NFP sub-programs
NFP offers the following options:
Individual scholarships for:
master's degree program;
short courses;
PhD studies.
Subsidies for alumni activities:
Refresher program (for NFP, NPT, niche and MENA alumni);
AAN start-up grant (for NFP alumni);
Co-financing activities of NFP alumni.
STI policy
Dutch policy on development cooperation gives special importance to gender and sexual & reproductive health and rights. NFP focuses on gender policy by highlighting the extent to which gender is part of courses and programs in the NFP course list. There are four categories:
The subjects of this program is oriented gender (gender for example in the title of the program);
This program contains several modules dealing with the gender dimension;
Sexually-oriented modules that are available, but not mandatory. Content of the program is not explicitly gender-oriented and attention is not given to gender;
The subjects of this program is not gender oriented. It is not possible to include gender-oriented modules.
Alliance
A federal NFP is intended to increase the salary of the scholarship should continue to receive (at least in part) for the study. This exclusion is considered as a contribution towards living expenses for one person, both in the Netherlands or other countries. A federal holder can therefore faced with additional costs (for example to charge extra for housing). Scholarship recipients are advised to check with the board of the Netherlands if this could be a case for them. It should be noted that the NFP allowances are not sufficient need for family members of students, both at home and in the Netherlands.
This can cover the cost of federal tuition, visa, travel, insurance and thesis research, as specified in the NFP Rules and regulations for the scholarship recipient. A federal NFP was given for a course or program. While individual candidates selected for scholarships, grants awarded to institutions of higher education to allow a recipient of the Netherlands to pursue a program of sub-select.
There are limitations to the amount candidates can receive a scholarship. Candidates are not eligible for scholarships if a candidate applying for:
a Master of federal NFP NFP has received a scholarship for a master's degree;
a federal NFP PhD has received federal NFP-PhD;
a SC federal NFP has received two scholarships for SC NFP or have, a year before the application is received federal NFP SC.
In addition, the candidate being employed by one of the following organizations are not eligible:
multinational enterprises (for example Shell, Unilever, etc.) or
large national and / or commercial organizations or
bilateral donor organizations (eg, for USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, FinAid, AusAID, ADC, SwissAid etc.) or
multilateral donor organizations, (such as UN organizations, TheWorld Bank, IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB, etc.) or
an international NGO (eg for civil society organizations, Oxfam, Plan, Treatment, etc.)
District programs and courses
NFP course list also contains a master's degree programs and short courses that happens, good full or in part, in one of the NFP countries, for example, joint or double degree program. In this case, the board of the Netherlands and its partner institutions in the NFP country deliver the program together. The programs and courses that are open to all candidates, for programs / courses relevant to the candidate's employing organization and the country.

Dutch embassies and consulates assess all applications for scholarships for a master's degree programs, short courses and PhD studies and formulate specific recommendations for further processing. Nuffic
Nuffic is the Netherlands organization for international cooperation in higher education1. As an independent organization, non-profit based in The Hague, Netherlands, Nuffic supports internationalization in higher education, research and professional education in the Netherlands and abroad, and help to increase access to higher education worldwide.
NFP programs run, and diadministrasikan by Nuffic. Nuffic guide the selection process of candidates for the scholarship for a master's degree programs, short courses and PhD programs. Nuffic draft list of programs and courses NFP Scholarships can be used. Nuffic also select candidates for PhD scholarships and evaluate the proposal for a refresher course.
Dutch educational institutions
Dutch institutions involved in the NFP is an institution of higher education or other organization in the Netherlands that specializes in transferring knowledge and skills in post-secondary school level. A master's degree programs and short courses listed in this brochure and all the PhD study program offered by the board of the Netherlands. This was assessed on their capacity to receive and teach students or professionals from diverse backgrounds.
Authorities to assess whether candidates meet the academic requirements for taking part in the courses, specific programs or training. They manage the NFP scholarship for the fourth sub-program.
