Hungary through Balassi Institute, Office of the Hungarian Scholarship Board offers scholarships to foreign students and professors at institutions of higher education and research colleagues who intend to gain further professional experience in Hungarian institutions of higher education or research institutions. Scholarships can be applied in two different ways:
Work plan and the Office of the Hungarian Scholarship Board bilateral agreementsThe (hereinafter HSB) welcomes applications by citizens of countries (and regions) that have a valid work plan / effective education with Hungary, or the bilateral agreements signed by the Hungarian Ministry of National resources and the relevant ministries of the particular country (or region). Dissemination of all information regarding application procedures and deadlines as well as evaluating and shortlisting application made by the authority or the Ministry of Education scholarship in the relevant country (or region). Applications forwarded by the office of scholarship partners should have priority. However, applications submitted directly to the Office of the HSB must also be accepted within the framework of the system Pool described below.
Scholarship PoolIn 2005, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Hungary form a "Scholarship Pool 'allows for application to all types of HSB scholarship from the following countries / regions:
Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan , Jordan, Korea Republic, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Chile, Republic of the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Romania, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria , Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, the United States.
The following citizens can only apply through their national office of scholarship, on the basis of bilateral agreements: Columbia, Yemen, Mongolia, Palestine and Vietnam.
Available scholarships
The following scholarships are available in the 2012-2013 school year:
A - semester / partial studies (3-10 months)
Available for: undergraduate students (BA / BSc) and postgraduate (MA / MSc) (registered in a foreign higher education institutions), especially the Hungarian language and literature majors and students participating in university level single-track program (such as General Medicine, Dentistry, Science Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Architecture, Law, etc.). Prior to application, students are required to complete a minimum of two semesters at their home institutions. For 'Type A scholarship students may apply only on one occasion during their degree studies, and once during their Master studies.
B - postgraduate studies, research (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
Available for: applicants holding a Master's degree or equivalent university degree, including PhD students who intend to conduct research for their dissertation and want to stay in Hungary is less than 10 months. (However, the PhD student can not obtain credit during the award period at the host university.)
C / 1 - full PhD program (36 months)
Students are proficient in Hungarian can only apply. Scholarship is dependent on a successful entrance exam / entrance to each of the doctoral school.
C / 2 - partial PhD studies (10 months)
Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited higher education institution in the country of origin or in foreign countries (but not in Hungary).
D - postdoctoral studies, research (1-10 months)
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree.
E - research stay (3-21 days or 1-10 months)
Available to associate professor or a high level of academics and researchers holding a PhD or equivalent degree minimum.
F - summer courses in the summer of 2012 (2-4 weeks)
Only courses published in the list of 'Summer Courses 2012' in the HSB site can be selected. You can choose three different scholarship program but you will allow you to participate in only one program.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-CASE
Foreign nationals with a residence permit / immigration or the practice of applying for a license in Hungary
Foreign nationals with permanent residence in Hungary
Foreign citizens permanently employed as defined by the Hungarian Labor Law
Students in applying for a job part time or correspondence courses
Students applying for the program is financed by the Hungarian State
Students admitted host institutions of higher education where tuition is required.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
Scholarships offered by HSB allows for study or research in the fields of arts or science education in Hungary accredited universities or research institutions will be determined in advance.
Semester / partial studies and graduate and doctoral programs should be conducted in institutions of higher education or research institutions where there is no tuition fee is required.
For 'type A scholarship students may apply only on one occasion in the course of their degree studies, and once during their Master studies. Type A (semester / partial studies) and type C1/C2 (full PhD and partial PhD studies) scholarships can not be extended. Type B (postgraduate studies), D (postdoctoral studies, research), and E (research stay) scholarships can be extended greatly, only under special circumstances, on one occasion.
HSB scholarship applies only to studies and research in Hungary. Scholarship holders must live in Hungary during the entire period of study or research.
Scholarships awarded for summer 2012 or academic year 2012-2013 and shall be completed by June 30, 2013 at the latest.
List of national scholarship authorities ("Foreign Partners"), a list of the summer university program and other useful information can be found on the HSB (www.scholarship.hu). Scholarships are awarded by the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources under the Council of the Hungarian Scholarship. List of successful applicants for the scholarship type A to E are expected to be published on the website HSB at the end of June 2012 and for the university's summer program in early June 2012. Applicants will be notified of the result in a formal letter posted or sent via e-mail. HSB's office will not accept an appeal against the decision.

Note: For those applying under the system of bilateral agreements may be before the application deadline, as determined by the office of a national scholarship from a particular country.
