Degree Program Master RCA-KAIST Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering, KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) is designed to educate and train high-caliber students from the RCA Member America with the aim to preserve and enhance nuclear technology to RCA member states. The graduates of this program has contributed to the development of nuclear and radiation technology to countries with graduates working in government supported R & D institutions, or government-funded companies, universities, etc. as the leader of the elite.

This program has been implemented since March 2003 and 25 students in total from 11 countries have been accepted until now. To complete the required courses for up to 2 years on a regular basis and students must meet certain requirements.

2. RCA Scholarship
RCA-KAIST scholarship program coverage are as follows;

Application fee (50,000 Korean Won)
2 years of college (Approximately 8 million Korean Won per academic year)
Salaries (900 000 Korean Won / month): to be paid each month on the 25th of every month to two years.
One-way economy class airfare from the nearest airport of the country who came to Incheon, Korea.

NOTE:

Local transport from airport to Daejeon, and air fare back after completion of this course is not covered by the program.
On-campus housing (dormitories) can be arranged but the cost must be borne alone. Currently, the space shared by two people at a cost of about 600,000 half KAIST Korea Won / (may change slightly) and must be paid at the beginning of each semester.
KAIST not provide family housing for married students during the first year. This can be provided in the second year, but there is high competition. So students who want to bring / her family to bear that rental apartments near KAIST quite expensive.
Food on Campus cafeteria cost about 4,000 Korean Won per meal.
Medical insurance costs about 40,000 a month from Korea / Won also be borne individually.

3. Qualification for Application

must graduate from a 4-year academic institution (or equivalent time) and has a BA (Bachelor of Arts) or equivalent degree.

Two Letters of Recommendation (download) from two professors from the institution where the applicant is present for the BA or MS degree. The letter by the supervisor or the experts from national research institutions or private companies will not be accepted.
Academic transcripts from all colleges attended
Graduation (or expected) and the certificates of all colleges attended
Common TOEFL (or TOEIC, TEPS, IELTS) score record (for students only from non-English speaking countries are defined in the following note) - The test taken more than two years before the date of application as unacceptable.
Photocopy of Passport: Students should check whether their passport has sufficient validity period of the first page of your passport and a copy must be sent to the Assistant Program via e-mail KAIST (Christine Kim, christine8511@kaist.ac.kr).
Optional: Any material that shows the applicant's scholastic ability

In the Report of Financial Resources (one of the application document), you must select the "Sponsoring Organization, Firm, or Government" as a source of funding and write "Program RCA-KAIST Master's Degree" as the name of the sponsor.

All documents must be official and original. Bids may be withdrawn if the entry documents filed candidate found to be true and false. Also fax and photocopying are not considered a valid application documents. However, a stamped copy of the transcript with a fresh new valid regarded as genuine.

All documents must be written in formal English so if the application documents including academic transcript is written in a language other than English, they must be translated into English with the authorization of the notary in your country.

Applicants from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam must submit an official English proficiency test score is higher than the criteria given:

Delivery of the English exam is waived for applicants from Australia, India, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Singapore.

5. Want to join
Applicants must submit their application package directly to the Management Team Registration at KAIST, and a complete application package must arrive at KAIST by the due date below. For detailed information, including addresses, please see the web site KAIST (http://www.kaist.edu => Register). Registration Management Team will only accept application documents that arrive at KAIST by the due date. They are not responsible for failure in the delivery of application documents by the deadline.

6. Registration procedures and come to KAIST

Screening in the Department:
Student Selection Committee of the Department (which includes a Program Coordinator) at the Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering, KAIST will review all applications submitted to the Revenue Management Team KAIST. Then, qualified applicants will be recommended to the KAIST Student Selection Committee. If the number of eligible applicants is greater than the maximum number of students that the program RCA-KAIST Master's degree may receive, some applications can be transferred into the scholarship program KAIST.

Acceptance of Evaluation:
Applications recommended by the Selection Committee will be evaluated by the Student Ministry Student Selection Committee KAIST.

Notification of acceptance:
KAIST Admission Team will notify the applicant whether the candidate's entry into the acceptable or not.

Program Coordinator and Program Assistant will contact the applicant's claim for further instructions via e-mail.

VISA and Air Ticket:

The students admitted must obtain his / her visa from the Korean Consulate in his / her country.
If students buy a plane ticket, it will be replaced by the program after arrival, so students must submit an airline ticket and a receipt of payment issued by a travel company in which he / she bought the ticket. If not, students can choose to receive a one-way air plane e-ticket to the Program Assistant of KAIST Korea.
He / she should let the program coordinator (or assistant program) know your arrival date and time for the reservation boarding school. (2 pupils have to share a room)

Arrival at KAIST: 27 ~ January 31, 2012 (Spring Semester) or 27 ~ August 31, 2012 (Fall semester)

When students arrive at Incheon airport, take Airport Limousine Bus to Daejeon at Platform 9D at the airport. (<₩ 30,000) and tell the driver that you will fall in the former Lotte Hotel bus-stop in Daejeon.
When students arrive at Daejeon, get off the bus at the Lotte Hotel, bus stop and took a taxi to KAIST. (<₩ 5,000) and tell the driver you want to get to the House of Mechanical Engineering in KAIST campus or show the driver the following words of Korean.
When students arrive at the N7-1 building (or building connected to the Nuclear Engineering Mechanical Engineering Building.) In KAIST, they should go to the department office on the 2nd floor. Program Assistant will guide the student to Student Affairs Team (+82-42-350-2162) for residential applications and for your room.

Settlement on Campus: ~ January 31, 2012 (Spring Semester) or ~ August 31, 2012 (Fall semester)

Program Assistant will help you to completion (make a bank account, ID and key card to enter the building N7-1, a computer account and live cards, etc.)
Report your arrival to the Program Coordinator, Prof. Cho Gyuseong by visiting room 2404 of N7-1 building for further instructions such as assigning academic advisors, etc.
Students who purchase their own airline tickets air fare must submit receipts for reimbursement Assistant Program.
Students are encouraged to meet a lot of interest and must specify the professor / academic advisor with the agreement of the professors he / she chooses and then his / her study desk in the office will be assigned an academic advisor to graduate students.
Students should bring 3 passport size photographs to create photo ID and official documents are needed without delay.
Students are advised to bring warm clothes for winter, November to February, as well as some of the money (~ 900 000 Korean Won) for the initial set-up as scholarship may be awarded at the end of each month.

Start Semester: February 1, 2012 (Spring Semester) and 1 September 2012 (autumn semester)

Spring Semester 2012 begins on February 1, 2012 and 2012 fall semester begins on September 1, 2012.
Total units of credit per semester ranges from 9 to 12.
Students must meet the requirements of the department and KAIST for their graduation.

7. Graduation Requirements
There are two options for the song title of MS;

Thesis-based MS degree
To graduate, students must earn a minimum of 36 credit units consisting of (1) 8 undergraduate (8 × 3 = 24 units) with an average GPA score of 2.5 or higher and (2) research thesis (12 units) for 2 years. Minimum credits for graduation plans are as follows;
England (NQE595 or CCxxx) 1 program 3 credit units
Nuclear energy policy (NQE575/675) 1 program 3 credit units
Nuclear & Quantum eng. Course 3 program 9 credit units
2 courses in each department of 6 units of credit program
Thesis research and writing of 12 units of credit
A total of 3 credit units

Course-based MS degree
This is the option to complete the MS program without a research thesis (12 units) but with two more courses (6 units) + and the individual studies (6 units). Students should have completed an MS degree in 1.5 years. For this option, however, students should consult with his / her academic advisor during the first or second half.
