Applications for the 2012-2013 academic year are invited to Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmizi Visiting Research Scholarship. Applicants must be nationals of the countries in Asia or Africa. Preference will be given to those studying classical Islamic sciences, although other areas in the humanities and social sciences will be considered. The scholarships are each carrying a stipend of £ 3,000 and membership of the Common Room. This allowance is intended as an additional award and can be held in conjunction with other research grants, allowances, or leave salary.
This scholarship will be maintained beginning October 1, 2012 for a minimum period of three months. This scholarship is intended to encourage interaction among academics from various traditions of learning. Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmizi Research Fellows will be expected to devote their time to research and write and to participate in academic activities of the Centre.
