World Health Organization (WHO) Internship Program

Summary
We are a diverse workforce of some 8,500 people representing over 150 nationalities working in 147 countries. We have six regional offices and headquarters located in Geneva, Switzerland.

What we offer?
World Health Organization (WHO) as a leader in global public health issue is committed to building future leaders in public health. WHO `s Internship Program offers a variety of opportunities for students to gain insight in the technical program and administration of WHO.

The duration of WHO internships are between six weeks to three months. Fabulous, internships may be extended up to a maximum of 24 weeks, depending on your degree requirements. Unfortunately, WHO internships are not paid and all travel expenses and accommodation responsibilities intern or the sponsoring institution.

Who are we looking for?

You are enrolled in a degree program in graduate school (second university degree or higher) both at the time of application and during the internship.
You have completed a minimum of three years full-time study at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
You at least 20 years.
You have a first degree in public health, medical or social field related to the technical work of WHO or degree in related field or administrative management.
You are fluent in the language of the office work assignment.

You are invited to create a profile on the WHO `s e-Recruitment system. This includes details about your education, the current studies, language and computer skills.
You also will need to write a Cover Letter to disclose your motivation to apply for WHO Internship (maximum length - three paragraphs).

Conditions WHO Headquarters Internship

The duration of the WHO internship is between a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks. Fabulous, internships
can be extended to 24 weeks to respond to specific academic requirements or special needs of program recipients.
WHO internships are not paid. Travel expenses, travel arrangements (including visas), and living accommodations are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
Person associated with a staff member of WHO, ie, son / daughter, brother / sister does not qualify for an internship.
Trainees must have a passport from WHO Member States.
WHO trainees must have adequate health insurance coverage during the entire period of internship. This medical coverage should include Switzerland.
Trainees may participate only once in the WHO Internship Program.
Trainees do not have the status of WHO staff members and do not represent the organization in an official capacity.
WHO trainees are not eligible for appointment to any position in the WHO for a period of three months after the end of their internship. Any employment with WHO at this point in time subject to recruitment and selection procedures.

How to apply

PLEASE NOTE: Applications and Deadline Date

Summer (May to October)
To be considered for a summer internship, applications are accepted between December 1 to January 31 each year.

Winter (November-April)
To be considered for winter internship, applications are accepted between August 1 to September 30 every year.

The application process requires developing individual profiles within the WHO system `s e-Recruitment This profile includes your education, the current studies, language skills and computer knowledge and experience. Students may lack professional experience or find it challenging to complete the level in the skill in eRecruit. Suggestion: Review your experience in light of his academic career or activity you `ve done. Indicate how this experience has given you the skills and competencies to work in teams, to make decisions and solve problems. This may relate to your actual school or personal situation.

You are encouraged to provide a Cover Letter to articulate your motivation to seek WHO Internship (maximum length - three paragraphs). In this letter explaining what type of project that you feel you can contribute as an apprentice with the WHO. Tell us about your ideas. As part of your cover letter, including the dates of your availability and additional information to facilitate the selection process. If selected for the Internship WHO, you will be asked to provide certified copies of proof of enrollment in a course of study and proof of private medical insurance (illness) coverage (which must include Switzerland.)

All applications for WHO Internships are recognized when received and made available to the technical unit to review. The time period for this study is indeterminate. If you do not hear from WHO technical units within a reasonable period (eg 1-2 months after the closing date of application), assume that you will not be considered for an internship WHO at this time.

As an important reminder, WHO Internships are not paid. Living in Geneva is expensive and finding accommodation can be challenging. All prospective interns should be aware of these factors before they consider implementing the WHO Internship. WHO does not provide financial support, so that interns are encouraged to seek funding from other external sources. Applying the funding can be time consuming and complicated, so it is advisable to start the internship search their funding well in advance. When applying for funding, you may be asked to provide proof that your offer has been accepted for an internship with WHO. If you have been accepted for an internship with WHO, and thus eligible to join the apprenticeship community, additional information will be given to you to assist you in identifying sources of funding.

Warning: If selected for an internship and you identify accommodation in Geneva, does NOT make an advance payment or provide guarantee in the amount prior to arrival. Please note that all applications will remain active for a period of six months. Intern applicants not offered an internship based on their initial application are encouraged to re-register after this period.
