Clarendon Fund Scholarships, University of Oxford, UK -Clarendon Fund is a postgraduate scholarship scheme at the University of Oxford, offers more than 100 new scholarships each year. In 2010-11, there are 297 undergraduate at Oxford Clarendon from 46 different countries. Awards are made based on academic excellence and potential in all subject areas, enabling the most prominent scholars to study at Oxford University, one of the world's top five universities and the oldest university in the English speaking world.

The University has one goal in mind when choosing a graduate Clarendon: to select the best students around the world, as decided upon by experts in the field of each student. This aspect makes a unique scholarship: scholarships while others stressed the need for the leadership shown in their selection criteria, Oxford believes that by selecting and maintaining the best and brightest minds in any field given the progress of their studies at Oxford will, by its very nature, produces a leader in the field them. In addition, the selection process means that the scientific community Clarendon containing the same number of students from each of the four University academic divisions, and this diversity is a major force for inter-disciplinary interaction among the scholars.

We are pleased to announce that the Clarendon Fund is now open to all graduate applicants regardless of nationality. From 1 September 2011, all applicants for graduate degree-bearing program for 2012/13 entry will qualify for the prestigious scholarship fund that has, until now, only open to candidates with overseas fee status.

By applying for graduate study at Oxford University will automatically be considered for the Clarendon Scholarship. You do not need to submit additional documents specific to the Clarendon Scholarship and there is no separate scholarship application form.

The information you provide with your application form for postgraduate study at Oxford will be used to assess your funding application. After the application deadline has passed, you are not able to provide additional support materials (except for the department you are applying to have specifically requested this support in your application for admission to Oxford).

Closing date for Graduate Admission for 2012/13 is the day Friday, January 20, 2012.

Nationality
All applicants for graduate study at Oxford University are eligible. Clarendon scholars come from all continents of the world: from the United States to Australia, Venezuela to Vietnam and from Norway to Nigeria!

Levels of study
All degree-bearing courses at the graduate level are eligible. It covers all full time and part-time Master's program (MST, MSc, BCL / MJur, MBA, MFE, MPhil, BPhil, MSc by Research, MTH) and all programs DPhil. Subjects
All subjects can be funded by the Clarendon Scholarship. There is no quota by the subject or preference for any particular type of course.

Type of student
Candidates applying to start a new graduate program at Oxford are eligible. This includes students who are studying for a Master's degree at Oxford, but that will be re-applying for the DPhil (you will be eligible for funding these DPhil).

Candidates who already have a place but an entry is suspended from the previous year are not eligible to register (as you can apply for Clarendon in the year that you applied for your place and then, if you succeed, you can apply to defer your fund if You need to defer your place).

Students who will continue to learn to the same degree at Oxford in the following year are not eligible for this scholarship.

The application process
By applying for graduate study at the University of Oxford (Application Form for Graduate Studies) will automatically be considered for the Clarendon Scholarship. You do not need to submit additional documents specific to the Clarendon Scholarship and there is no separate scholarship application form.

You do, however, need to implement the January application deadline to be considered for scholarships.

Outcome
Results for entry in 2012-13 will be available in April 2012. Further details will be posted nearer the time.

Selection criteria vary slightly depending on subject area and whether the applicant apply for a taught or research degree, but includes:

* An excellent academic record is important: A high-class honors degree first or equivalent (minimum GPA score of 3.7 if the mark is out of 4, noting that the most successful candidates achieve scores higher than 3.7) or academic records outstanding at the Masters level is required (note that the title of a remarkable teacher can compensate for moderate levels of the first performance). Other indicators of high academic achievement that may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information your overall position in your cohort, and publications (if applicable).
* The ability for the proposed course of study: this can be assessed by examining academic reference, research proposal, the evidence shows intelligence for research, and the possibility of scholars will contribute significantly to their field of study.
* Student Motivation: This was assessed through the evidence of the applicant's commitment to their proposed program, evaluated by a personal statement and referee reports.

Scholarship Value
All the Clarendon Scholarships cover tuition and course fees in full and generous grants for living expenses.

Grants for living expenses for scholars in full-time in 2010-11 is GBP £ 13,590, which is usually enough to cover the living expenses of a single student living in Oxford.

Undergraduate courses on a part-time receive pro-rata number of full-time grant for living expenses. Part-time Master's degree is offered 1 / 3 of full-time grant per year for two years. Scholar offered part-time DPhil 1 / 6 of full-time grant per year for six years.

Duration of Scholarship
Clarendon scholarships are offered for the full period that you are responsible for paying tuition to the University, which is usually equal to the length of your course. Scholarships are subject to annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.

Combined Award Policy
The University aims to offer financial assistance to many well qualified candidates as possible, and we hope that scholars will continue to pursue Clarendon other funding applications. In November 2010, we introduced a new award the Joint Policy for Clarendon Scholarship holders who will come into effect from 2011-12 academic year. Under the Combined Award Policy, Clarendon scholars may be in receipt of funding package includes tuition, tuition fees and living expenses from various sources, and the value of the package of funding from these sources may be equal to the total of the standard Clarendon Scholarship plus an additional £ 2,500 p / for cost of living.
