Lotus is an Erasmus Mundus Action Partnership Two (EMA2) from Europe and Southeast Asia Higher Education (HEI) and the Association aims to foster mutual enrichment and better understanding between the EU and South East Asia (China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand ), through the exchange of people, knowledge and skills at higher education level and to cooperate in the following program:
Mobility of undergraduate and graduate students
Mobility of PhD students
Post-doc mobility
Academic and administrative staff mobility
The types of mobility to be funded are:
For students: opportunities of mobility undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral
For academic staff: exchanges for the purpose of teaching, practical training and research
This project is to provide Southeast Asian students and staff are likely to go to the European Universities to enhance, enrich, learn, experience, .... their own knowledge and skills.
Please note that scholarships are only given to Southeast Asian students and staff come to Europe. Grants include:
A monthly subsistence allowance
Travel tickets
Insurance
Tuition
To enable students to benefit by way of linguistic, cultural and educational experience of pursuing academic studies in another country, all students must have a thorough command of English (this can only be proven through an internationally recognized document, pe IELTS certificate, TOEFL, Cambridge Certificate First, the English language diploma, earned a degree in English). Please note, however, that this also depends on the host university's language requirement in the Lotus project.
Destination
To promote cooperation between EU and Asian countries involved in the project: This project is striving to build a structured long-term cooperation between all partners, so the network is sustainable. This project offers the perfect opportunity to promote the exchange of know-how for the development of curricula, new teaching methods, international relations and university management.
To enable students to benefit from a period of study / research abroad and thus to develop a pool of good quality, open-minded young woman and an experienced international / men as future leaders: the project aims to create a bridge between the Union European and Asian countries involved by offering opportunities for young people to come to the EU and establish contacts. To promote regional cooperation in the Asian countries involved and to train future generations of academics that foster a culture of sustainable development and durable growth and promote regional integration.
To improve the transparency and recognition of studies and qualifications: the project is focused on mobility and will give explicit attention to the promotion of the recognition system studies.
To contribute to provide good students from vulnerable groups of equal opportunities and thereby spreading the values of social and democratic European Union: 15% of the scholarships are reserved for students from vulnerable groups in Asian countries involved (refugees, ethnic minorities , internally displaced populations, disabled students, economically disadvantaged students)
To improve staff skills, which in turn can they contribute to the improvement of education system in their home countries: 22% of scholarships are provided for the exchange of staff. Teachers must apply the argument to stay how they will contribute to the structural reform in Asian countries involved, and this will be evaluated.
To improve in the medium term political links, cultural, educational and economic relations between EU and Asian countries are involved: the project contributes to improving mutual understanding between the EU and Asia, by allowing personal contact.
Eligibility criteria for students
Asian students who wish to participate in mobility to the EU:
Must be a national of one of the three countries covered by the relevant lot;
Should not live nor do their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one European country;
For target group 1 (TGI): students must be enrolled in one of the third country HEIs in partnership. Students must have successfully completed at least one year of study at their home institutions;
For target group 2 (TGII): students need either to be registered in a HEI (not included in the partnership) from third countries concerned with a lot or have obtained a bachelor's degree or equivalent by the institutions from third countries. They will need to justify how the study period abroad will benefit them (and direct socio-economic environment) and include a letter of support in each application;
For target group 3 (TGIII): students must be citizens of one of the three countries concerned with a lot and be part of a vulnerable target group.
Must have sufficient knowledge of programming languages or one language while speaking in the hosting countries.
No student can benefit from more than one mobility activity on the same project.
Eligibility criteria for staff
In order to meet the requirements, academic and administrative staff, hereinafter referred to as "staff":
Must be a national of one country are eligible;
Must work in or related to the HEI in partnership;
Mobility tasks should be based on a partnership agreement between members of the partnership;
Home and host university and individual staff must agree on a course that will be delivered by the visiting staff, the research activities or on the type of training that must be followed;
Mobility may be a post-per-post exchange or a one-way visitor flow to or from third countries.
Priority will be given to mobility that:
Ensure that the contribution of visiting teachers will be an integral part of a program from the host institution
Will lead to the production of new teaching materials
Will be used to consolidate and expand the relationship between departments and faculties and to prepare projects in the future cooperation between home and host universities (joint projects, joint degrees, etc.)
Will help strengthen the international cooperation departments in foreign universities
Will lead to advances in the application of ECTS (European Transfer Credit System) and other systems for recognition of studies and qualifications in partner institutions
Will enhance the university - enterprise cooperation
It helps to start the Doctoral School
Will cause an increase in the university's quality assurance mechanisms.

Scholarship
Advance:
€ 1,000 per month for undergraduate and graduate students
€ 1,500 per month for doctoral students
€ 1,800 per month for post-doctoral
€ 2,500 per month for academic staff
Insurance costs:
All grant holders to subscribe to the policy of the central group. This policy can be found on the website.
Tuition / registration fees:
Tuition is covered by the project.
Travel costs:
A return ticket will be provided by the coordinator by booking through a travel agent center. Simply buy a ticket will not be replaced.
Travel Cost: depends on the distance.
Before registering online:
Be sure to read the eligiblity criteria in order to determine the Target Group and the kind of mobility you want to apply for;
Check the language and the admission requirements of the host university are required;
Consider contacting the department in which you want to learn: this way you will get more information about the chances of their studies and formality;
Know that for an exchange student online application form applies for applications in both home and host institution;
Remember that the online application form of any Target Group 1 students will be screened and validated by the International Relations Office (IRO) or contactperson their university.
Remember that all full-degree seeking students, those who intend to get a diploma at the host university of their choice, will have to apply either online to the consortium Lotus scholarship, and then - if they are elected - also following the application of standard procedures of individuals in the host university them.
The deadline for applications has been set at December 23, 2011, so that all applications must be submitted before that date.
Lotus II project will run from July 15, 2011 until July 14, 2015 and financed by the European Commission.
