Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in biostatistics and bioinformatics to work in the development and application of statistical methods for large cohort studies of family data, and high-throughput omics data analysis on cancer and cardiovascular disease.
Qualification
Applicants must have a PhD in statistics, biostatistics or related disciplines, and has a strong interest in medical and biological problems. Previous experience in computational methods is an advantage. Successful candidates will have many opportunities to work on both methodological and collaborative projects implemented.
About the Department of Biostatistics and groups
Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics currently employs around 250 staff with 15 full professors and more than 40 graduate students. Department is one of the largest department of epidemiology in Europe. Unique data sources - such as the Swedish Twin Registry, several large prospective studies, sustainable national case-control study, access to clinical data, biological materials and high-throughput genotyping, expression, protein / metabolite and sequence data - effectively explored in the department . The group consisted of three professors of biostatistics, 8 PhD-level statistics, four master's level statistics, and 7 doctoral students. The group is involved in various research projects, including population-based cohort and case-control studies, twin and family studies, survival analysis, predictive modeling, genetic epidemiology and bioinformatics.
