Sumitro Fellowship Program, USA – Indonesia

The Fellows program honors Dr. Sumitro Djojohadikusumo Sumitro, senior economist and co-founder of Indonesia USINDO, who died in 2001. A modern economic architect of Indonesia, Professor Sumitro leading economic faculty at the University of Indonesia, and then trade minister and minister of state for research.

Professor Sumitro is also the driving force behind the program in the 1950s from the Ford Foundation which sent Indonesian economists to the U.S. for advanced degrees. Many lectures at the University of California at Berkeley and the group later known as the "Berkeley Mafia" when its members assumed key cabinet in the next decade.

One Fellowship is available to United States citizens / permanent residents for research related to the political economy of Indonesia. Other federal available for Indonesian citizens with projects related to the Indonesia-United States relations.

Sumitro Fellows Program Application 2012
USINDO is pleased to announce a call for applications for 2012 Fellows Program Sumitro.

The Sumitro Fellows Program is a travel grant / study $ 10,000 for post-doctoral scholars, PhD candidates, senior academics, and professionals qualified candidates stated to be involved in field research. One Fellowship is available to U.S. citizens and residents / permanently for research related to the political economy of Indonesia. One Fellowship is available to Indonesian citizens with projects related to the Indonesia-United States relations.

Terms Terms
United for Fellowship applicants must Sumitro U.S. citizen or permanent resident in the United States with a specific project on the political economy of Indonesia. Applications outside of the scope of economic or political economy will not be considered.

Indonesia to Fellowship applicants must be citizens of Indonesia Sumitro with specific projects in every aspect of the language of Indonesia-US bilateral relations. Applications are strictly related to the topic American, or non-US / non-Asian theme will not be considered.

Language Skills: Please note that although not required, the previous study Bahasa Indonesia is helpful in doing field research. U.S. applicants must indicate on the application form if and at what level languages ​​have been studied, both in formal and informal. Applicants must be able to study Indonesian language advanced in English. Proof of English proficiency can be demonstrated by a TOEFL score. Indonesia, which has graduated from the U.S. higher education institutions, or from the board in an English speaking country, exempt from this requirement.

Applicants / scholars who wish to publish their works in the form of a few will raise their applications. Previous trips to, and experience in, Indonesia or the United States is desired but not necessary.

Notifications: USINDO will notify the selected 2012 Fellow Sumitro (s) by February 15, 2012. USINDO will not award any scholarships in a given year if there are no qualified applicants, the sole opinion USINDO.

Application Materials
All of the following must be completed and received on or before the date of January 15, 2012, in order to be considered for Sumitro Fellows Program:

* Application Form: Please submit a completed and signed registration form.
* Field Research Summary: Please provide a 4:59 single spaced pages of research abstracts that you mean.
* Curriculum Vitae or Resume: Please submit a curriculum vitae (not exceeding 10 pages) or extended to provide a full collection of all publications, the item most recently published listed first.
Letter of Recommendation *: Two (2) letters of recommendation required. A letter of recommendation must come from the dissertation advisor, senior lecturer, or other comparable adviser. Please reference you to send recommendation letters directly to sumitro@usindo.org on or before January 15, 2012. Applicants have the responsibility to ask and remind them to direct the referee to send their recommendation letters required time limit.

* Additional Information: In addition to the above information, reconnaissance committee will consider additional information such as writing samples, syllabus only, and faculty etc. Faculty members are welcome to submit a course syllabus which does not exceed five pages.
