Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP), Europe - Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a program of 2-year-long international Master funded by the European Commission. This is a direct response to the educational needs created by the rapidly changing global environment and new challenges of public policy. Mundus MAPP equip graduates with the conceptual knowledge and hard skills needed to understand and decisive policy interventions of contemporary transnational problems, from climate change in international terrorism or failure of financial regulation. It provides a detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local level with a direct focus on Europe at the level of government involvement. Inter-disciplinarity and practical application of conceptual knowledge are the hallmarks of the Mundus MAPP.

Four leading European universities joined forces to provide Mundus MAPP: Central European University in Budapest (Hungary), Institut d'Estudis Internacionals Barcelona (Spain), International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University in The Hague (Netherlands), and the University of York (UK) . Building a successful track record Mundus MAPP, the curriculum is integrated to provide a uniform core of policy studies as well as special modules for specific mobility tracks, mainly drawn from the fields of International Relations, European Studies and Development Studies. Four songs mobility allows students to specialize in Political Economy and Development Policy, Governance and Development, and European and Global Public, respectively. Each track mobility include field visits to relevant public sector organizations and internships.

Mundus MAPP unique combination of a strong conceptual foundation in practice and policy-oriented learning will provide graduates with transferable skills and subject-specific knowledge to begin or continue a professional career as policy makers, policy-analysts and advisors in civil service, international organization or corporate sector and non-governmental organizations, and to enroll in doctoral programs in a variety of relevant subjects. Mundus MAPP graduates will have a thorough knowledge of European policy making institutional and personal networks and dense milieus that will bring them forward to a leadership role and future of constructive engagement in Europe and worldwide.

European Commission's Erasmus Mundus program provides scholarships for outstanding students from within and outside the European Union to attend Mundus MAPP and to visiting scholars to participate in teaching and research. Consortium of Universities also support students by offering partial tuition waivers for Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients.

Admission requirements
Mundus MAPP is open to both European and overseas (third country national) students. Erasmus Mundus scholarships are reserved for the best qualified applicants by the European Commission.

The minimum requirements are:
Bachelor's degree (completed at least three years of undergraduate study - normally at least Second Class);

Fluency in English:.

Mundus MAPP does not require a language certificate from the applicant of the following countries, provided they have received a Bachelor's degree or Master'sdegree taught exclusively in English:

Australia, Botswana, Canada, Gambia, Ghana, Ireland, Kenya, Liberia,
Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda (English-speaking region), South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom, the United States and Zambia

Applicants from countries other than these may request an exception from the English language admission requirements if they hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree taught exclusively in English from a university or college in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein , Norway or Switzerland.

All other applicants will need to provide proof of their English language skills with one ofthe following test scores:

TOEFL (computer based; taken on / after February 11, 2010) 237 or above; OR
TOEFL (paper version; taken on / after February 11, 2010) 580 or above; OR
TOEFL (Internet version; taken on / after February 11, 2010) 92 or above; OR
International English Language Test (IELTS; taken on / after February 11, 2010) 6.5 or above; OR
Cambridge Proficiency Examination (taken on / after February 11, 2007) C or above; OR
Cambridge Advanced English Test (taken on / after February 11, 2007) B or above.

High motivation and interest in European and international public policy.

Although Spain is no longer a requirement for mobility tracks involving IBEI, basic knowledge of Spanish is recommended because some options will only be available in Spanish.

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships for students
Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for students accepted for the Mundus MAPP. The Mundus MAPP universities select candidates in the competitive process among qualified applicants, and forwards the names to the European Commission for approval under the Erasmus Mundus Programme. Please note that candidates are NOT required to apply directly to the Commission for funding (this is not possible). A scholarship is a condition of acceptance for the Mundus MAPP.

Candidates who are awarded scholarships Erasmus Mundus is required to complete the entire 2-year long Mundus MAPP program, and will receive both their titles only after completion of the full program. Completion of a course, for example, will not be recognized with the title.

Requirements for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship
There are two types of scholarships offered by the European Commission. The second category of scholarship recipients also receive financial support from the university Mundus MAPP in the form of partial tuition waivers (reduced tuition).

Students accepted for the Mundus MAPP is NOT coming from one of the countries listed below, and who are not residents also do not perform their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in the countries listed in below, are eligible for "Category A" scholarship:

EU member states,
EEA-EFTA States (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein).

All other students received Mundus MAPP eligible for "Category B" scholarship, that is, students who come from one of the countries listed above, or has been located or carried out their main activities in one or more of the countries listed above for more than 12 months in the last 5 years.

The number of scholarships for each category of individuals (students from categories A and B) were determined in the fall by the European Commission on an annual basis, and varies between 7 and 17 scholarship students each year.

NOTE: At least two of the countries visited during the EMMC studies must be different from the state in which the scholarship holder has obtained a degree / university degree last.

Financial condition
Total value of the scholarship is € 48 000 for Category A, and € 20 000 for Category B for the duration of the program (two academic years).

Mundus MAPP tuition fees normally € 11,000 per academic year (22 000 over the past two academic years). However, part of the fee is waived by the Mundus MAPP universities for Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients. This value of partial tuition waivers are € 3,000 per academic year for Category A scholarship holder, and € 7,000 for the scholarship recipients Category B. As a result, Mundus MAPP Scholarship recipients include the following expenses from their scholarships:

€ 8,000 per academic year (16,000 total for two years) for Category A scholarship recipient, and
€ 4,000 per academic year (8,000 total for two years) for Category B scholarship recipients

On the basis of a written agreement, the applicable fee is directly deducted by the Consortium of Erasmus Mundus students' scholarships. The remaining scholarships (€ 16,000 per academic year for Category A and € 6,000 per academic year for scholarship recipients Category B) payable to a student bank account in monthly installments.

Apply
Candidates who wish to be considered for Erasmus Mundus will need to demonstrate this in on-line application form. There is no separate funding application will be required.

But scholarship applicants must provide all information relevant to the consortium to determine the category of scholarship, especially the information about the citizenship and residence within the last five years.

Applicants who wish to be considered for Erasmus Mundus scholarship may apply no more than the other two programs beside Mundus Erasmus Mundus MAPP. In the case of students apply for more than three EM program he / she will be excluded from selection for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

Application deadlines

January 4, 2012, 24:00 Pacific Standard Time (PST): For applicants who seek and qualify for Erasmus "Category A" Mundus and "Category B" scholarship. Applications must be submitted along with proof of English proficiency.
May 4 2012, 24:00 Pacific Standard Time (PST): For student applicants who do not wish to be considered for financial aid.

How to apply
Receipts for the Mundus MAPP are centrally managed by the Central European University in Budapest. Qualitative assessment of the candidate performed jointly by a consortium of four universities. Please note that only applications submitted to the CEU in the way detailed below will be considered. This may not apply to the university in addition to CEU Mundus MAPP.
Candidates are asked to fill out an application form on-line.
