Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS) is an initiative by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brains from around the world to continue with further academic study in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to support the Malaysian Government's efforts to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.

Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds welcome to apply for these scholarships and further their studies at any university selected and well established Malaysian public and private sectors. The scholarships are divided into two (2) categories of study: Graduate Studies and Post-doctoral

ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS), applicants must meet the following criteria: -

No more than 45 years during the application.
Obtain a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours) or CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at bachelor level degree for applicants for Master's and PhD candidates must have a CGPA 3.5/4.0 or excellent results at the level of a Masters degree in the same intended PhD study. In addition, for post-doctoral program, the selection will be evaluated based on the number of books produced, refereed journal referee / cigarette, a portfolio of patents and copyrights. Post-Doctoral candidates must have an excellent reputation in research and knowledge related to research to be conducted.
Taking one of the following English Language Proficiency Test no more than two years before the date of application. List of tests and minimum scores are required:
IELTS Academic Test with a score of at least 6.5, or
Paper-based TOEFL test with minimum score 580 or computer-based test with a score of at least 230 or internet-based test with a score of at least 92.
In excellent health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor / Medical Professional. The cost of medical examinations will be borne by the applicant
Write a proposal that is relevant to the needs and interests of Malaysia (the only research-based program)
Have applied for and obtained admission to graduate studies and post-doctoral fellow at Malaysia (conditional letter of offer will be accepted at the time of application or have confirmation of acceptance or affiliation with a university in Malaysia).

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP
Each scholarship consists of: -

Air ticket from the capital city of the recipient to Malaysia
An approved tuition
Monthly maintenance allowance
The annual grant for books and internal travel
Medical / Health Insurance
Installation and Termination of the grant

PRIORITY AREAS STUDY
Field of study in the following priority areas:

Science and Engineering
Agriculture and Fisheries
Islamic Economics and Finance
Information and Communication Technology
Biotechnology
Biosecurity and Food Safety
Infrastructure and Utilities
Environmental Studies
Health does not include nursing, medical, clinical pharmacy

* Applicants may choose any course related to the fields / areas mentioned above

SELECTION CRITERIA
Applications will be considered in accordance with the following selection criteria: -

High levels of academic achievement.
The quality of the research proposal and the potential contribution to technological progress and human welfare.
Good communication, writing and reading skills in English.

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF AWARD

Scholarship holders must conduct a full-time study for post graduate studies and post-doctoral fellow at a college Universities.It Malaysia is the responsibility of the scholarship holders to confirm the enrollment to the university.
Scholarship holder does not have to change their program during the scholarship except with written permission from their university and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
Scholarship holders must follow the approved program and abide by university rules, regulations and codes of conduct.
Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of the award. Monthly allowance is not payable during suspensions, including suspension due to illness.
It is the responsibility of the successful candidates to apply for and meet the requirements for the issuance of the appropriate visa including medical examination. Scholarship offer does not guarantee the granting of a visa.
Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good performance set by their host university and degree program, or scholarship will be withdrawn.
This scholarship can be maintained in Malaysian universities and research should be conducted in Malaysia.
Scholarship holders are not allowed to take paid employment during their tenure unless with written approval from the host university.

HOW TO APPLY
All applications must be made ONLINE through the Department of Higher Education web site at https://payloan.mohe.gov.my/MIS/ starting from January 16, 2012 until 30 April 2012.

STEP 1

Identication LIST Passport Number or National number, password and email address.
Login to the online application form and fill out all sections completely.
Make sure all information is correct before you print the application and logout.

STEP 2
Attach a printed application form along with following documents:

Latest passport size photograph.
Completed Medical Report.
Copy of current passport showing evidence of citizenship.
Copy of academic transcripts, testimonials and / or references relating to, relevant study co-curriculum activities, accomplishments.
A clear and precise study or research plan
Copy of the certificate of English proficiency (Test of English as a Foreign Language / TOEFL or International English Language Testing Service / IELTS)
CVs.
Acceptance letter from the University of Malaysia.
Two letters of recommendation from two (2) people who can act as a referee to support your application.
Endorsement Form.

You are required to complete a two letter of recommendation from two referees, Endorsement Form and Medical Report. Please bring printed ONLINE application form and required documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the relevant agency responsible for the MIS scholarship in your country to get support for.

STEP 3

Scan all of the above documents in PDF format and LOGIN to MIS Online Applications.
You are required to attach a document and click the SUBMIT button to submit the application. You will see a notification message when the process is done. All applications are fully online. No hard copy is required. Bring a hardcopy of the application and the original certificates during interview sessions.
