Programs address pressing global issues of sustainability, climate change, development, peace, and human rights through an innovative interdisciplinary approach that integrates the natural sciences, social sciences, and Humanism. This program is intended for new graduates, professionals, and practitioners, offers a unique opportunity to study in the global university within the framework of the UN. This provides students with the knowledge and skills to make a vital contribution to the breakdown of global problems, both through the work of UN agencies, other international organizations, governments, civil society, or the private sector.

The program is practical oriented, user-focused, and the highest academic quality. Offers the opportunity to obtain practical experience through internships or field research with the United Nations or other international organizations. This program is built on a strong note of United Nations University (UNU) in training and development capacity, and leverage vast network of scholars and academic institutions that participate in UNU research.

Students who gain at least 30 credits, successfully completed her master's thesis, and pass the final test will receive a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in the field of Sustainability, Development, and Peace. Standard time study is two years, this program begins in September, with students expected to complete all requirements in July in the second academic year after registration.

UNU-ISP welcomes applicants with:

An interest in pressing global issues on the agenda of the UN, and especially those who sustainability, development, and peace.

Strong desire to contribute to the fragmentation problem of the global environment, peace and development, interdisciplinary approach.

Registration requirements
Applicants for the Master of Science in Sustainability, Development, and Peace are required to have met the following requirements by the deadline for registration to be considered:

A. A completed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university or institution of higher education
Those who wish to pass and have a university degree or equivalent is also given before registration can take place.

Two. A particular interest and aspirations of a career in at least one of the following thematic areas:

Global Change and Sustainability
Reconciliation and Peace
International Cooperation and Development

Three. English language skills
Minimum value requirements for English language qualifications required by the UNU-ISP is:

600 in TOEFL - Paper-Based Testing (PBT)
100 in TOEFL - Internet-Based Testing (IBT)
7.0 in IELTS - Academic format

Applicants, except for the cases below, must submit the original report TOEFL or IELTS scores (from tests taken in the last two years) for the Admissions Office at the time of application:

Applicants whose first language is English.
Applicants who graduated from college or graduate school located in a country in English.
Applicants who complete undergraduate or graduate program in which the language of instruction is English and inspection. In this case, an official statement from the academic board will be required, allowing the use of English as medium of instruction and examination.

UNU-ISP requires original score reports of TOEFL / IELTS (no photocopies accepted).

Financial Support
The Japan Foundation for UNU (JFUNU) Scholarships available for outstanding applicants from developing countries who can demonstrate need for financial assistance, and they will be considered as candidates for the scholarships.

JFUNU scholarship covers full tuition, and provide a monthly allowance of 150,000 JPY * for your living expenses for a maximum of 24 months. Travel expenses to and from Japan, the cost of handling the visa, and health / accident insurance costs should be borne by the students.

* ¥ 150,000 for cost of living monthly average for international students without dependents in Tokyo, although this amount may vary depending upon the student lifestyle.

Please note that the scholarships are very competitive and offer JFUNU a very small number of students granted permission to UNU-ISP. Thus, applicants are encouraged to apply for other funding opportunities from their own governments, private foundations, or international aid agencies.

Registration limit
Application deadline for September 2012 entry is Monday, 30 April, 2012.

Online Applications
Your formal application must be done online, using the UN CECAR online application portal. You need to make a user account to submit your application. Online forms can be saved and return to any time before submitting.

Selection and Announcement of Results
After the registration deadline, the process of reviewing applications and making decisions in will take 6-8 weeks. Please do not contact the Front Office to at least 8 weeks have passed to check the application status.

UNU-ISP may at time require applicants to provide verification of the information and documents presented as part of their application and / or additional information, including but not limited to, the interview.

Successful applicants will be notified by Emailto address given on the document Form.Necessary to the procedure of application will be sent with the letter of acceptance. Successful applicants must submit a medical certificate. Only applicants who successfully submit the documents required for entry procedures and transfer 50% of the tuition fees for first academic year ($ 5,000, non-refundable) within 10 days after the announcement of the UNU will result in the program. Matriculation date (early September 2012) can not be extended, even though there are special circumstances in the student.
The applicants who fail will be notified by e-mail to the address given on the application form. Admissions Office does not provide individual feedback on your application was successful.

E-mail will be the main method of contact. Therefore, it is important that applicants provide a valid email address in the application form and that he / she regularly check his / her e-mail. Important Note

All registration forms must be typed and completed in English. No documents or handwritten applications will be considered incomplete.
All materials and documents presented as part of the application will be owned by UNU-ISP and can not be returned.
If any fraud was found in one of the documents presented to the application, acceptance, will be removed.
Applicants who failed the previous year to reapply to enter must submit an entirely new set of application documents, including a reference letter. No previous application materials will act as a support resource.
