Shanghai University of Science and Technology (USST) manages three types of international student scholarships offered by the Shanghai Municipal Government in an effort to encourage international students and scholars who are very good to learn at USST.

The type I. scholarship and the applicable

Type A (full scholarship)
It is awarded to excellent international students who will apply for Master / Doctoral degree program in USST
Type B (partial scholarship)
It is awarded to excellent international students who will apply for the Bachelor / Master / Doctor degree program in USST
Type C (scholarships for outstanding students)
It is awarded to outstanding international students who take long-term degree program in USST.

II. Scholarship includes:

Type A (full scholarship)
Students who are awarded a scholarship type A will be exempt from registration fees, tuition, fees and basic learning materials and accommodation expenses will be provided with comprehensive health insurance for free. Master's and Doctoral candidates will enjoy a monthly living allowance CNY1, 100 RMB and CNY1, 400 respectively.
Type B (partial scholarship)
Students who received scholarships from the type B will release the registration fee, tuition, basic learning materials costs.
Type C (scholarships for outstanding students)
It is established to encourage international students currently enrolled are pursuing a very good long-term studies in higher education institutions in Shanghai. The winners will receive a one-time scholarships in one academic year.

III. Prerequisite of applicants

Non-Chinese nationals in good health
Applicants pursuing a Bachelor's degree must hold a High School diploma or equivalent and must be under age 25, and applicants can only apply for a Type B or Type C scholarships. Applicants pursuing a Master's degree must hold a bachelor's degree diploma or equivalent and should not be under the age of 35. Applicants pursuing a doctor must hold a Master's diploma or equivalent and should not be under the age of 40.
The applicants should have excellent academic records.
The applicant must be in default of any other Chinese government scholarships.

IV. When implemented, and how to apply

Type A (full scholarship)
A type of application will be processed by the university from January 1 to June 10 each year.

Application materials:

Government Scholarship Application Form Class Shanghai (SGS) A, filled in Chinese or English
Notarized copies of English and Chinese translation or your highest education certificates, including graduation and diploma. Letter of verification must be provided if the applicant is a student or working.
Official transcript of study records in Chinese or English. Chinese or English translation of the transcript must be notarized.
Study Plan in China (no less than 1,000 words) in Chinese or English;
Letter of recommendation in Chinese or English from two professors or associate professors from the institution where the applicant has completed or will complete a course of study;
Copy of the Chinese language proficiency test HSK 6 or above (for students will take courses that are taught in Chinese);
Students who apply for art program must provide their works;
Copy of valid passport if available.

All the ingredients mentioned above will not be refunded.

Type B (partial scholarship)

Type C (scholarships for outstanding students)
Application of type C will be processed by the university from March 1 to September 30 every year.

Application materials:

Scholarship Application Form for Shanghai Government (SGS) Class C, filled in Chinese or English;
Official transcript of study records;
Records of a valid passport.

All Type A, Type B and Type C scholarships must be applied for each academic year. Qualified applicants can apply in sequence.

V. Processing and End Results
The final results of the evaluation process will be notified in an open scholarship in each July and November and an official certificate will be issued to each winner.

VI. About Visa to study in China and Formalities Registration Scholarships

Visa to Study in China
Scholarship winners of the type A and type B who came to Shanghai from abroad must apply for a student visa (for students who will study for more than six months, "X" visa must be applied) to the Chinese embassy or consulate in their native country and copy of the Registration Statement, Visa Application for Study in China (JW202), Foreigner Physical Examination Form Scholarship Award Notification and valid passport.
Registration
If there is a scholarship winner fails to register within the time limits without permission from the agency, he / she will be regarded as giving up the acceptance and scholarships.
Health certificate and residence permit
Students with scholarship should bring a Foreign Physical Examination Form and go to the Entry-exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Shanghai International Travel Health Center for verification. If they do not have medical verification of the center, they must take a physical exam until they receive a Certificate of Health said the center. Anyone who refuses a physical examination or enter China with a particular disease will be rejected as stipulated by Chinese laws and regulations will be asked to leave China within a few days are limited and the scholarship will be canceled accordingly. Relevant costs are the students said. The accommodation and living allowance of the scholarship fund will be terminated from that month.

Students must apply for the scholarship of Stay to the Exit-Entry Bureau of Shanghai Police Department within 30 days from the date they enter China.
