The University of Heidelberg: PhD, PostDoc, or Senior Researcher Position in Machine Learning – Optimization – Computer Vision – Image Analysis

The University of Heidelberg invites applications for the above positions funded until October 2017, with possible extension. All positions are affiliated with the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing (HCI). The HCI comprises the labs of Fred Hamprecht, Bernd Jaehne, Bjoern Ommer and Christoph Schnoerr, with around 100 senior researchers, PhD students and undergraduates. It is jointly funded by the German Excellence Initiative from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the University, and the industrial HCI partners Robert Bosch, Bayer, Carl Zeiss, Sony Deutschland, Heidelberg Engineering, Silicon Software and PCO.

The mission of the HCI is to conduct first-rate fundamental research with the aim of providing cutting-edge solutions to key image analysis problems relevant for applications in industry, environmental and life sciences. The HCI is located in the attractive, lively city of Heidelberg in the heart of Europe. The strong staff at HCI make for an inspiring research atmosphere, and the breadth of our expertise allows us to jointly tackle the hardest problems.

The gross salary ranges from 42 to 57 kEUR (TVL/13 step 1 up to TVL/14 step 4) plus social benefits, depending on qualification and experience.

Applicants for PostDoc or Senior Researcher Positions must have published in first-tier venues such as IJCV, PAMI, SIIMS, JMIV, ICML, NIPS, AISTATS, ECCV, ICCV or CVPR and will preferentially have collected experience in projects with real-world data. Applicants wishing to pursue a PhD must have outstanding grades and will preferentially have first publications or prestigious scholarships to their credit.
