Biochemistry PhD student - biotechnology (1)
Participants will conduct research within the framework of a PhD project at the specific sites of protein modification for covalent coupling to the functionalised support. In Design Group biomolecule (bio-organic and polymer chemistry) from the Institute for Materials Research, in vivo and in vitro in the strategies being explored for this purpose. This study lies in the 'biosensor' core competencies of the Institute for Materials Research, which aims for improved sensor concepts to enable the detection of small amounts of target molecules (eg biomarkers, pathogens, drugs) and is reproducible and quantitative manner.
In addition to this research, the candidate is also expected to participate in educational tasks of the department of chemistry and the assistance of a master's degree and internship.
Profile
Because mutlidisciplinary character study, a great interest in life and materials science are encouraged;
candidate is motivated, independent and have a broad interest in research;
A good command of English and Flemish, and willingness to do research in an environment of international team-oriented research are recommended;
can work well in teams;
both relational, communication and reporting skills.
Diploma
Candidates will have a master's degree in (bio) chemical, biotechnology, civil engineer with a background of biochemistry, bio-engineer (or equivalent).
The final year students (too) are encouraged to apply.
Work
Appointment for a period of 2 x 2 years (with an evaluation after two years).
