Job Title: PhD Studentships in Ultrafast Imaging and Structural Dynamics (IMPRS-UFAST)
Job Description:
IMPRS-UFAST is a PhD programme which offers unique training opportunities in the field of ultrafast imaging with a view to exploring structural changes of atoms, molecules, condensed, biological, or warm dense matter on femtosecond time scales. Students work and research alongside an international and interdisciplinary team of experts with access to first-class research facilities and whilst obtaining a PhD degree.
Our mission is to enable young scientists to achieve their full potential through supervised thesis research complemented by a multifaceted programme of lectures, interactive workshops and advanced courses. The duration of the programme is 3 years.
IMPRS-UFAST students normally graduate from the programme with a doctorate (Dr. rer. Nat, the German equivalent to a PhD) which is awarded by the University of Hamburg. The language of instruction is English and the Research School strives to attract a diversity of talented students from around the world. Funding in form of stipends and PhD contracts is available.
Applicants will hold or are about to receive an MSc, a German “Diplom” or an equivalent degree in an area relevant to the programme.

The IMPRS-UFAST is a collaboration of the Max Planck Society, the University of Hamburg, Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron (DESY), and European XFEL GmbH. The location of the School is Hamburg, Germany.
